I don't have a video card in my K8NF4G-SATA2 motherboard and the monitor, keyboard, and mouse are plugged in but when I turn it on the monitor keeps asking if the video cable is plugged in and my keyboard and mouse do not light up...what could it be?
It was running fine last night when I shut it down around 11:30PM and its running off integrated graphics and I have 2gb of RAM in it as well as a D-Link ethernet card. I get a graphics card tomorrow in the mail but why was it working fine last night and now it won't even show my optical mouse or keyboard as on and its not even "thinking" (red light flashing showing its accessing the hard drive)... its a brand new 160gb hard drive with Vista...I checked the power connections and all the cables and everything is where its supposed to be...It was running fine last night when I shut it down around 11:30PM and its running off integrated graphics and I have 2gb of RAM in it as well as a D-Link ethernet card. Your Video Card (Graphics Card) is probably bad. To isolate the problem
connect another monitor to the computer. Borrow a monitor from a
neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer.
If the Borrowed monitor displays the same NO Signal Message then your
video card is bad. If the Borrowed monitor displays and works
correctly, then your original monitor is bad. The fact that your
monitor displays the No Signal Message on it shows that the monitor is
ok.
If you have a laptop, the video will show on most systems when you
reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit
the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the
correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key
will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.
It seems that you have the incorrect driver installed. Safe mode uses a generic driver designed to work with all graphics cards. According to the documentation for your motherboard, it should have came with a drivers disk. The driver should be on there. If it isn't it will be here:
If this does not resolve the issue. I would verify that it is, in fact, an NVidia GeForce 6100. The only way to know this for sure, is to remove the heatsink from the GPU (the silver colored one in the middle) and find the Manufacturer's insignia on the chip itself. Be carefull not to damage the chip and replace the heat sink gel when you reseat the heat sink.
If there is no display on the monitor, then your computer is not sending a video signal to the monitor. This could be caused by a bad video card or some other hardware problem. I would open the case and disconnect all the devices (hard drive, CD, etc. Leave only the CPU, memory, and video connected. You could leave the keyboard and mouse connected too. If your computer then starts, you can start to add devices (after turning the computer off) one at a time. If this doesn't work, then you are looking at replacing the motherboard or just the video card if that is possible.
Could be heat issue try install an extra fan on your case check graphics card temp with a freware program and check the temps are normal http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php
