I HAVE A IR UP6-30 SCREW COMPRESSOR. AS LONG AS THE AIR IS BEING USED IT CYCLES FINE. IF THE AIR VALVE IS CLOSED, WHEN IT GETS TO 120 PSI THE BELT STARTS SQUELLING DO TO THE SCREW LOOKING UP. OPEN THE...

Replace and tighten the drive belt first. This will require replacement of the small cylinder at the top of the air end near the inlet valve. This cylinder has approx 600 psi on it. Where it attaches at the air end take a 1/2 inch drive rachet and put the end in the square on the tensioner bracket and rotate the bracket toward the front of the compressor.(turn counterclockwise) This will let the cylinder extend and remove the tension on the belt. Remove the cylinder by inserting a small screwdriver under the retaining clip and release it. The end can then be easily removed from the ball. Do the same for the back clip. If you will pull these clips out before installing a new cylinder it will made installation easier. Before installing the new cylinder remove the side panel by removing the screw plastic covers. Then remove all the screws except the top two. Loosen the top two screws. Lift the side cover off the two screws and remove. The screw heads are 10 mm and they will fall down in the panel if up don't have a magnetic insert or bit. This info is for a up6-30 horse power unit.
