Check the filter. And the fins in the coil. If these are clogged the airflow is restricted and the condensation freezes on the coil. The previous owner may not have changed the filter as often as they should have leading to restricted air flow. Also its hotter during the day and the unit is working harder than at night.

I have an older Goodman mini-split A/C unit, Model# MSG18HRN1W. On colder nights, at or just before freezing, in heat mode, the unit shuts itself of, and all 4 lights blink repeatedly.

It is meant to shut off when it gets so cold that the unit cannot make warm air from outside air that is too cold. When it reaches that situation, it should be switching the heating effort to the built in resistance heating. In other words, it gives up and directs that many KW of electricity go straight into heater coils, like and electrical dryer has. It is very expensive to heat this way. Most whole house heat pumps can't handle cold air. The newer mini split ductless heat pumps lower can work with outside air temperature below freezing depending on the manufacturer.

My freezer freezes during the day and defrosts during the night. The fridge is cold during the day but gets warmer during the night. What could be the problem ?

You should turn the refrigerator off for a while to make sure the ice within melts. If you need spare parts, refer to the user manual for the appliance:

Coleman evcon furnace in mobile home works fine during the day but not at night. What could cause this?

I suspect water in the fuel that is freezing up due to the pressure difference across the jet and causing a blockage.

SPLIT AC CONDENSER TRIPS AFTER 1 OR 2 MINS, ONLY DURING THE DAY TIME

The condensor is not cooling fast enough. Try cleaning the condensor coil. Also check that the fan goes on. At night the outside temperature is cooler and does not need much work to cool down the condensor.

I am not sure if it is a problem.....we recently bought a house with the above heatpump in it. We have noticed lately that the inside unit (not the outside unit) developes a layer of ice on it on really...

If it works fine during the heat of the day, but as soon as it cools down, it freezes up, then you may have a low refrigerant charge. The other things you may check are the indoor filters to make sure they are clean, and check if you are getting good air flow through the vents. Bad air flow can mean you have a dirty evaporator coil if the filters are clean. If the above checks out ok, then you will have a low refrigerant charge and need a technician to come out and charge the unit. What happens is the low charge will cause the pressures/temps to drop inside the unit. When its hot enough outside and warm enough on the inside of the house, its enough to keep it from freezing, but as soon as the outside/inside temps drop, the refrigerant drops below the freezing point and starts to freeze. As for asking if its a problem, definitely. Hope this helps and good luck!

Brand new Dometic rooftop ac,freezes up at night, does fine during day...??

This is common for most air conditioners and is normal due to humidity levels being higher at night causing more condensation build up and then freezing. Solution: Turn down thermostat at night to allow compressor to turn on and off.
