I have a problem with the soap dispenser being filled up with water at the end of the cycle. All the soap has been dispensed but the dispenser cup is full of water. This is on a samsung front load washer. The washer is about 2 years old but the problem just started about a week ago.

Remove detergent drawer by pulling out, some models got a tab where you need to push for release. Remove plastic cover from softener compertment and clean it. It maybe clogged up with residues from softener or liquid detergent

SOURCE: water leaking out of front of washer at soap

We had this same problem...I wasn't using a garmet bag and turns out, one of the hoses were clogged with a small pair of underwear then again with a childs sock. Take the casing (top of the washer) off... and take a look at the hoses etc.

SOURCE: Water is pouring out of the detergent dispensing

Pull the drawer out you will find detergent has built up in side the dispenser probably from from way too much detergent, modern front loaders work best with a small amount of detergent and liquid detergent normally will wash better.

I have a whirlpool gu2400 dishwasher. The spring loaded soap dispenser door does not open during the wash cycle to release the soap.

Whirlpool dishwashers use a wax motor or a solinoid to release the door at a specific time during the cycle. So for proper cleaning the soap cup is nessesary . The part isn't that expensive and fairly simple repair.

Why does My Samsung VRT front loader leave the soap dispenser full of water at the end of the wash cycle. I have to empty it in order to add detergent for the next wash cycle.

there are 2 components to the soap dispenser, 1 using liquid soap has a little tub that you dispense soap into and 2nd you remove the tub when using powder soap. I assume that you are talking about the little tub is filled with water. How this works is by adding water to the tub the level rises and siphoning empties the little tub. If any water remains it is due to water being added after the little tub has already emptied. That is not a big issue and will happen. Just empty the water or add some water to start the syphon process.

I put liquid dish soap (not even dishwasher soap) in my rinse aid compartment of my dishwaser...will this hurt the washer? Do I need to get soap out and how?

yes it will foam up unlike you have never seen before
by disassambling the door and removing the risne agent dispenser and very throughly draining the soap it may get all of it out(rinse it with only cold water since hot water promotes sudsing while cold water kills sudsing) if even a few drops remain it will suds like crazy during the rinse cycle (when the agent is dispensed) to remove all suds from the machine fill a cup of white vinegar placed in the upper rack such as if you would drink from it (not upside down) and run the d/w of a normal cycle
a better but unfortunitly more costly solution would be to replace the rinse agent dispenser

I just bought a washer and dryer that were used and the previous owner was a smoker. Now all my clothes smell like smoke. Any advice the get the smell out of the machine?

Hello, W/D here.

For a single odor, I would recommend a neutralizing sequence. Use one box of baking soda. Fill the soap dispenser as you would with powdered soap, and pour the remainder into the wash tub. Fill the fabric softener and bleach dispenser cups with an odor remover such as Odor-Cide or Febreze. Add 1/2 the normal amount of detergent for a normal load directly into the tub. Run the washer on the hottest, longest cycle available, with the longest, hottest rinse cycle available (usually this is the sanitary cycle). When the cycle has finished, run another sanitary cycle with 2 cups of bleach in the tub, fill the soap dispenser, bleach dispenser and the softener dispenser with bleach also.
After this cycle runs, run another, normal cycle with white vinegar in the tub and dispensers. This can be a normal cycle.
After all of these cycles, one last regular cycle with about 1/2 the normal amount of detergent in the dispenser should get all of the smell neutralized in the machine.

GE Harmony top load washer: The soap tray when filled with liquid soap will not properly dispense the soap when the water is filling the machine and the soap tray remains full of water and soap at the end...

Hi
Dishwashers use Bi-Metal strip to allow the dispenser to open/close. This strip when heat up causes the soap door spring to open up the dispenser. If this strip is not heated doesn't allow the door to open. The strip may not be getting 120V or maybe disconnected. Newer (plastic liner) dishwashers use a wax motor to open the soap dispenser. The plunger inside the wax motor slowly moves and pushes the plunger and door open. And, if this wax motor doesn't receive 120 volts, then it'll not work. Please check the voltage to the wax motor/Bi-metal strip; also inspect the connections to these. Hope this helps...

Why does a lot of detergent remain in the soap dispenser after a washing cycle is complete

Was the dispenser cup wet when you added detergent?
Make sure the dispenser cup is dry before adding powdered detergent. If dispenser cup is wet, the detergent can clump.
Is the cycle incomplete?
If the previous cycle did not complete, the detergent can become caked in the dispenser cup if it is left sitting in the dishwasher.
Is the detergent old?
Older detergent exposed to air will clump and not dissolve well, which will cause the dispenser door to stick to the detergent. Replace detergent if necessary and store the detergent in a tightly closed container in a cool dry place.
Is the water temperature too low?
For best washing and drying results, water should be 120oF (49o C) as it enters the dishwasher.
Were items blocking the dispenser that kept it from opening?
Items blocking the detergent dispenser will keep it from opening. Make sure water action can reach the dispenser.
Detergent guidelines
  • Use automatic dishwashing detergent only.
  • Other detergents can produce excessive suds that can overflow out of the dishwasher and reduce washing performance.
  • Store tightly closed detergent in a cool, dry place.
  • Fresh automatic dishwasher detergent results in better cleaning.
  • Add detergents just before starting the cycle.
  • The amount of detergent to use depends on the hardness of your water and the type of detergent.
  • If you use too little, dishes won't be clean.
  • If you use too much in soft water, glassware will etch.
  • Suggested fill amounts are for standard powdered detergent. Amounts may vary if you use liquid or concentrated powdered detergent. Follow instructions on the package when using these detergents.
  • Water hardness can change over a period of time. Find out your water's hardness by asking your local water department, water softener company, or county extension agent.
