In a Canon Powershot S3 IS cam, you have to turn the switch to the right so it will turn on. When I am trying to turn on my CANON POWERSHOT S3 IS, it takes a long time(trying to turn it on all over again) and I think the turn-on switch is stuck. I think its stuck because whenever i try to turn on my cam, the switch won't fully open. But when I want to view my pics, the switch works perfectly fine! I don't know what happened! Pls solve my problem ASAP!!
For viewing you must turn to the right, it means your switch for record on is defective.
Your Canon repaircenter can fix this for you, if not contact Rotronica in the Netherlands for repair.

You are sure the battery is still ok?
Please don't try to switch on the camera as long as it is connected to a power supply or a computer with the USB cable, because it won't switch on that way. Only with a correctly charged battery.
Read other post of me to find out what to do with your battery, or just ask if you can't go on.
First make sure the lens is clean. Now set the dial to P mode. Hold down the flower button for a few seconds and the camera will go into "super macro" mode - keep watching the screen or the viewfinder until this happens. You might also feel the zoom resetting itself. You can now go right up to the subject, literally almost touching it - be careful not to damage the lens by hitting the subject!
I think in normal macro mode 4" is too close.
The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.
It is likely that an internal integrated circuit in the DC/DC board is damaged.
You will need to have your camera reviewed by a qualified technician to have it repaired, since it requires open the camera and evaluate the DC/DC board performance.
