Please let us know what errors you have by reposting each individual one when they occur. Don't pay Geek Squad, they just come up with something to change like a motherboard and such when it makes no sense to do so at all.

A better recommendation is to use a program like Acronis, to copy your current OS image from the existing drive to a New larger drive, and install the larger cloned drive as the C: and format the old drive as D: for extra storage. If you don't feel comfortable doing it, that is a project that Geek Squad should be able to do for you.

Unable to read data on drive

Hi Franoisebis,

I can help you with that, you will need a data recovery pro to attempt to retrieve your data. Unfortunately Geek Squad really isn't equipped to do that. If you reply with your Country, State and City I will direct you to an appropriate Pro nearest your location.

Upgraded hard drive, from 80gb to 250gb. I have had to reload my os twice. it appears that the bios is not recognizing my hd. a friend said that the inspiron 6000 does not do well with a hd bigger then...

I dont think we can use a hard disk of 160gb in an inspiron 6000. and make sure you bought a ATA hard drive and not a SATA drive. For the Western digital try to reinstall XP and install the device drivers before installing application s/w.

Dell xps m1330

Well from what I have read in your description of the problem stated, there is no way to do this without replacing your hard drive. If you cannot remember or find your password for Boot of the Computer then you really have no choice, Or you can take the other way too and thats what you choose not to do and that's call Dell Custoemr Service and pay for warranty or a In-Service for your Dell M1330. There is really no getting around that, realistically also considering the fact that it appears to be a laptop it's going to be really difficult for someone to access the hard drive to replace the hard drive, So that really eliminates to one option and that is paying for a warranty with Dell or taking it to Geek Squad at your local Best Buy Retail Store...The cons of that take to a local retail store like Best Buy would be having to purchase a whole new operating system, paying for an agent to install new hard drive, reinstalling operating system, and the biggest part is will Dell now provide you drivers for your computer usually that will depend upon whether you get the Operating System that came with the Dell XPS M1330, if you choose to down-grade then you more than likely will be not elgible for Driver updates from Dell and will have to manually go to the manufactors and retrieve them one-by-one.
