SOURCE: Question mark when turn on laptop

Unfortunately, the clicking sound means that the hard drive is bad. That is why it will not boot. If it is under warranty, call Apple support. 800.275.2273 in the US.

SOURCE: Blinking file folder with question mark and a DVD is stuck in it

Hello, The blinking file folder with the question mark can happen when the computer doesn't "see" your System. It can be caused by a faulty hard drive, or by a damaged operating system. You can try to reboot the mac, hold the mouse button during 20 seconds to eject the CD, then insert you installation DVD (leopard). Reboot the Mac again, and hold the "C" key. Select english, the go to the tools menu, and Disk Utility. Go to the SOS tab, select your drive and click "repair". If something red appears, it means that it has found something wrong on your hard drive. Best regards

I deleted all my bookmarks from chrome accidently, i wish to restore all my bookmarks, i have around 2000 book marks

You should be able to see your hidden folder , so that you can see the Local settings folder.
For Xp user's, Go to : C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default
For Vista user's, Go to : C:\Users\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default
You can see a file named 'Bookmarks.bak' . May be you can make a backup copy of this folder for safety purpose, but it works out usually. Delete the file 'Bookmark' and rename the file 'Bookmarks.bak' to 'Bookmarks'.

Whenever i copy a files from external device lik cd dvd or usb. It automatically turns in encrypted format ie all files r in green colour. Can any1 solve this prob. Pls

You can go to the desktop folder and see if that whole folder is set as encrypted. Right click on the folder and clock properties. Then click the advanced button, and see if the encrypted check box is marked. If it is, see if you can clear the check mark.Try doing the same thing with any individual file that is encrypted. You can format a USB drive with some format other than NTFS. When you copy an encrypted file over to that USB drive, it should force it to be unencrypted, if it is being encrypted by EFS. Otherwise, it was encrypted before it was put on the CD or DVD, and there is nothing you can do except try to get the password used to encrypt it.

When I turn on my laptop it goes to a blueish screen and a folder with a question mark in it begins flashing

Startup file corrupted. Try inserting gray disc 1 and repair disc permissions under disc utility and also select repair disc after that. Now go into system prefs, accounts, select your user name, select login items and highlight all the programs in the box. Then press delete as these programs are not needed to start up the computer. Your not deleting the programs-just preventing them from starting up when you first press the power button. Still nothing? Then re-install the operating system and that should fix it. Still nothing? Get a new hard drive and install new operating system on that. Still nothing? Well then old chap your fu.kd as you will need to repair the logic board or buy a new logic board.

My Powerbook G4 turns on light, fan, chime but no video.

Your hard drive has lost a file needed to start up the machine. The folder with the question mark means it cannot find a useable Operating system. I hope you backed up your files you needed becuase the only real way to recover the machine is to reinstall the OS from the install disk. You must format the Hard Drive from the format option on the install disk and reinstall the OS.

Wont turn on

Hello, It looks like a dead hard drive... To check your hard drive and see if you can repair it yourself, reboot your computer press simultaneously the "cmd" and "s" keys at startup if you see a black screen with white text, type: fsck -f and hit enter this does a "file system check", when finnished, type "reboot" and press enter. If nothing better happens, you'll certainly have to brinng it to an Apple Authorized Center Best regards

When I turn on my Mac Book Pro

The flashing folder with hard drive symbol is telling you that the computer cannot find a bootable system folder (operating system). This could be because the hard drive is working properly, or the operating system folder has become corrupted. Try booting up from the system CD or DVD that came with your Mac Book Pro and see if it can repair your hard drive.
