Ok. On your viewfinder, there might be a round dial. Turn it to adjust focus. Otherwise, sometimes viewfinders are like that... blurry, especially electronic.

Out of focus pictures when shot with view finder

I had a problem similar to this. Try taking off your glasses or removing your contacts and try again. Best of luck.

Why does it look blurry in the view finder but the pictures taken are clear?

Dirty window in the viewfinder, clean with soft damp cloth with lightly soapy water. Or spectacle wipes

VIEW SCREEN IS SO BLURRY I CAN'T TELL WHAT ITS SHOWING.

Is it the viewfinder (that you hold up to your eye) or the screen that's blurry?
If the viewfinder is blurry, there should be a diopter adjustment to fix it, probably right above the rubber eye cup.
If the screen is blurry, you should take some pictures and video and view them on a computer. I they are sharp on the computer but blurry on the camera screen, there may be a problem with the screen and you may need to take it in for repair.
If the pictures are blurry on the computer as well, the camera may not be focusing properly. If you can't focus manually, or the camera can't focus when auto focus is turned on, you have good light, and aren't too close to your subject, then it may need to be serviced.

When I look through the viewfinder on my Nikon D40x it is blurry and looks out of focus, but when but after I take the picture it is clear on the lcd screen. Is there a setting I can change or is something...

Adjust view finder focus as you will see setting there, to view correct focus in view finder itself.
Camera is just fine because it is taking good focus pictures.

Zoom pictures lower than what see in viewfinder

That's normal...it's called parallax error because the view finder is not in the same plane as the lens. Why don't you use the LCD screen to compose your shots?

My new canon sx20 also is clear with LCD screen but blury when using view finder. Pictures are fine either way.

There is a small knob to adjust the image through the view finder.

Refer to the manual if you cannot find it.

Images thru view finder are blurry

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check this link for more info.

Blurry Pictures

You probably got some condensation on the lens from going in and outside. You should be able to go to a Wolf Camera or similar store and have it cleaned.
