My laptop screen has been devided into four equal sections which all show the same thing how did this happen or how can I put this back to just one screen?

That could be many problems. what your telling me is that u see the charge light when u charge it but when you turn it on nothing happens? this could be a number of things. I would hook up a monitor and see if anything shows up on the monitor if the laptop boots. if something does show up then its your laptop display cables that are bad.
Try This
--> First turn your computer off by pressing and holding down the start button. Next unplug the computer and then remove the battery. Press and hold down the start button for about 60 seconds. Release the button and plug in the computer. Press the start button and the display should return. Replace the battery. If this does not work, try it again up to four times. No results usually indicates a bad mother board. Hope this helps.

Since the laptop works fine with an attached monitor, it means the problem is the inverter.

The problem with your laptop screen is that the inverter is malfunctioning, that is why you have those three equal horizontal sections.

Change the inverter of your laptop screen and you will see that the screen will be stable back.

What do you mean by four sections. Can you see everything on the screen but just in different colors. If so then it is the video card. Another thing you may want to try is to reseat the LCD cable on the system.

You say the laptop all of a sudden flashed off.

How old is the laptop? You may have suffered one of two things? First of all, if the hard drive will not boot back up, even after using the recovery discs, then that would explain it powering off. I have seen this happen on old desktop hard drives.

Next, try to get the transformer or adapter tested. It may not be putting out enough amperage to run the laptop.

Two things. Inverter, or CCF tube. The CCF tube in a LCD is equal to a florescent lamp but is usually .05mm thick, and 103mm long and is placed (soldered in) at the base of the LCD screen. The inverted goes out more then the CCF, but it does happen.

The inverter in most notebooks are placed under the LCD like this pictured.

Just below the base of the LCD is the inverter. This is a Gateway Notebook showing the location of the Inverter to the LCD. Best thing to do in these cases is to purchase a new inverter from the company who made your notebook as a new screen can cost over $100.

Re set the video cable inside the machine.

AKA pull it out And put it back in should work.

The function keys to change the display is FN+F5. Hit that combination three of four times. If this does not work take it back tomorrow.

If your RS700 is still under warranty contact your vendor or Samsung. It could be a number of things and most likely a hardware problem.
