Unless you have 'VOIP' telephone service with Comcast, your FAX will connect through your home's telephone line, not the internet (or modem). You would connect your phone line to the all-in-one printer, then follow Dell's instructions for use. Good luck!

Cannon mx 330 printer/fax. I plugged into the comcast modem for Tel 1 line then to the back of the cannon fax L. that didn't work so I connected it to the telephone line on the back of the fax..Help

The Pixma MX330 Line port needs to be connected to a POTS (plain old telephone service) line jack with an RJ-11 cable. A standard corded telephone or the base of a cordless system gets connected to the Tel port on the MX330. The Comcast modem connects devices to the internet. You might be able to use a VOIP (voice over internet protocol) service between the MX330 and the modem. You will need the appropriate hardware (MagicJack, Ooma) in between the modem and the Pixma and get an assigned telephone phone number.

Generally, you will need a compatible router to share the cable modem's internet service between any computers and a stand-alone VOIP system like the Ooma.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with more about your Comcast hardware for additional information. I know my home's fiber-optic modem service does support POTS, in addition to the internet and TV service. Each service has their own wiring/jacks that go back to the modem.

Hi if my printer a940 is not conected to the computer can it copy a paper?

Yes, you can. Press Number of Copies repeatedly until the number (any number 1-99) of copies you want to make displays, or press + or - to scroll through the number list. Press Color or Black. The printer is working when the display reads COPYING.

Your cable modem is not normally a source for telephone line that the fax machine will support. If you have telephone service through Comcast, You need to contact them about proper hookup to configure your fax line.
