DLP HDTV shut off, sound but no picture

I have a Magnavox DLP HDTV that is about 6 years old. It was working and then I heard a not too loud of a pop and the tv turned off. The power light was Red and the indicator light next to it was Bright Red. So I let the tv sit. When I turned it back on, I had the sound of the channel I was on but no picture. After approximately 1-2 mins, the tv then turned off again with the power light being Red again and the indicator light being Bright Red. I opened up the back and seen the spinning wheel thing and it appears to be trying to light, almost when light a stove. Then it stops and the tv shuts down again. Any help here would be great! It is the Stanley Cup Playoffs and I can't function without the game on!

Replace light bulb,
if you are hearing a click like the stove is because the lamp balast is trying to power on the lamp,
if you need part number and vendor please send me the model number

soudns like your color wheel may be going bad or the fan. Fan would be the first to check.

I have a 6 year old Magnavox 50 in DLP tv, model # 50ML8105D/17. When you power it on, the green light first comes on then after a minute, changes to two red lights, and the red light on the left...

It is a bad set and prone to all kinds of problems--considering parts are not available for it I would not attempt to repair this model.

I have an approxiamtely 8 yr old Magnavox 50 inch DLP t.v and when you turn it on, you can hear it power on but there is no picture. Trying to figure out whether its something that can be repaired and...

I am familiar with this model, if 8 years old do not invest any money in it as most parts are no longer available from Philips.

Saw a lot of them when only a few years old get junked.

Heard a loud pop in the tv, and then it shut itself off and had a red light. turned it back on and the status light blinks green then stays green no picture but sound.

Have a 65inch Mitsubishi DLP. acouple years old, just heard a loud pop,smelled like it was burning,it turns on but just sound????

Check the lamp of you tv. The lam is burned. that's why you heared a pop up sound and burning smell. Just check it and replace it. you will get the picture back.

Hello.
It looks like you ignored lamp replacement in your TV. It have to be replaced every 2.5 years of average use. It's like oil change in a car. Regular scheduled service.
You can read info about lamp replacement in your TV owner's manual, buy lamp on-line and replace it by yourself to save some money.
