My dishwasher started leaking from the left corner of door, now it's pouring out of the center of the door as well as the left corner. I have replaced the seal and fixed an existing problem that I didn't know I had with the water line. Where it connected to the dishwasher it had been leaking for a period of time unknown to me. After I tightened that the dishwasher worked fine until 40 mintues were left of the cycle when it began pouring out of the center again.
I just found a service release number for my Frigidaire dishwasher that says it applies to Serial numbers TH632 through serial number TH737 made in 2007 for a replacement kit for the door seal at the bottom of the door. The bottom door seal has been changed, adding side seals that restrict the water surge from the center spray arm. The part number for the new seal is p/n 154588201. This seal can be replaced without removing the dishwasher or either of the door panels.
The seal is located on the bottom of the inner door panel and appears as a cream colored flexible
rubber blade bonded to a milky white colored plastic strip. To remove and properly install
replacement follow the instructions carefully.
1. Replacing this seal can be accomplished without disconnecting power from the unit.
Always use extra care when electrical power is present while serving an appliance.
2. Open door all the way down and remove lower rack. Set rack aside to a safe location.
3. Locate the seal on the bottom of inner door panel. Facing front of unit, the right side of the
seal can be pulled down slightly to facilitate removal.
4. Pull seal straight into the tub from right side.
5. With seal removed, and before installing replacement seal, locate the channel in inner door
panel that the seal mounts into. Locating this channel before installing the replacement can
make this procedure easier.

6. Place the new seal on a flat surface and measure from the bottom of the seal, (See Figure
1 to determine bottom of seal), up 3/8 "of an inch and place a mark with a pen or marker on
both ends (See Figure 2). If needed, scribe a straight line between these two marks this
will give you a guide when installing seal into the inner door panel.
7. The seal can only be installed one way. The end that holds this seal into the inner door
panel has a ½ inch notch cut in the right side. This notch allows the seal to be installed
around the end of the inner door channel that holds the seal.
8. Line up the seal along the bottom of the inner door panel and start from the right side, push
the seal into the door channel to the line marked in step #6.
9. With seal in place close the door, the tub will align the seal as needed.
10. Reinstall lower rack and operate unit to check for leaks.
If leaks continue to occur at the bottom corners, order Splash shield kit 154701001 for
dishwasher.
Before installing the kit remove and reinstall the lower door seal. To install the lower seal make
sure you measure up from the bottom of the seal 3/8 of an inch and mark the seal, do this on
both ends. This locates how far down the seal needs to be before closing the door. Do not
install this seal without measuring it first. After the lower door seal has been re-installed then
install the splash shields according to the instructions accompanying with the kit.
Inspect the ends of the spray arm carefully. On one job, I saw that the circular calrod (heater rod) had melted holes in both ends of the plastic spray arm, and water jetting out of these holes pushed water out the opening at the center of the door bottom seal. Replacing the spray arm fixed it. This is a $20 part.
Good advice, but how does one prevent it from happening again?
My Frigidaire was leaking fromt he center area of the door. After spending $30 on lower seals I found my lower spray arm was split open on the ends. It almost looked like it was made that way. I went to an appliance parts store and looked at a new one and no slits in the end. The new one fixed the problem and it was $23.

I own 7 of these in rental apartments.
I had a leak and traced it to the float. Changed float same problem. There is NO seal adjustment on the float. Replaced entire machine.
This machine was 3 years old. I could be wrong here but I think that basic machine is used by several manufacturers and they have different doors.
I see these have been discontinued. Newer 18 wide ones are in the 500 range and totally redesigned. Metal tub too..
Just got email another same model one is leaking. UGH. I will look at it later in the week.
This little door you are all mentioning - if it warps as it ages could this be the issue? There is heat in there when it dries. Has anyone replaced that??
If the unit has a foat inside make sure it moves freely it controls the amount of water in the unit.
My spray rod is melted from the heater rod im going to have to replace it cause i already replaced the lower door seal. Hopefully that will fix the leak at the vottom of the door?

This is a new Frigidaire dishwasher. It is leaking from the left side of the door. I can reach me hand inside the door about 4-5" and I feel water running down. There is a vent on the insode of the dooe on the left side. I do not know if it is coming from there or not.
I have the same problem with a GE dishwasher. My leak is definately coming from the vent. I removed the skin from the door to check. The only thing that keeps the vent from leaking is a plastic door that is closed by a small motor when the dishwasher is spraying water. This door is opened for the drying cycle.
The only real mystery here seems to be why my dishwasher didn't always leak. There is no real seal on the plastic vent door, and it could never have really been water tight. I suspect that GE realized there would be some leakage. The design seems to corroborate this. There is a foam pad near the bottom of the door below the vent. This foam pad absorbs the leaking water, so until it becomes saturated no water actually leaks from the door. Also, GE currently has a recall because use of a liquid drying agent can corrode the wires inside the door. This could not happen unless the drying agent is getting out of the dishwasher and inside of the door.
In my case, the leak did not appear until the dishwasher was nearly 4 years old. I believe there are several reasons for this. First, we did two loads of dishes in a row. Second, the little door that closes the vent is warped upward. I think this warpage probably increases over time, causing the leak to worsen.
I don't see any real solution. This is basically a design problem. I am hoping that replacing the vent door will slow the leaking enough that the foam pad has time to dry between loads, and we will no longer have water dripping out of the bottom of the door.
My 2 year old KitchenAid dishwasher leaks from the door. It started as very little at the bottom and it is now almost a 1/2 gallon pouring out. We've replaced the gasket around de door and the bottom plastic part. Still no changes except that it is really hard to close the door. THen someone said to check the vent underneath in the back of the machine and said that this was the problem. Tested it and still the same. I've tried loading the machine differently, changed the soap, used very little of it, checked the hoses. But I'm at a lost of repair ideas.... Can you help?
My dishwasher started leaking from the left corner of door, and penetrates gradually to the floor. I didn't use the dish washer anymore but it still persists. When I dry the floor, it will happen again some time. I found some water in the centre bottom of dish water but I'm for sure no water after every wash. I don't know why it happened. Can anybody help to comment?
GE PDW788OGOOSS HAS THE SAME VENT/WATER LEAK PROBLEM
HOW HARD IS IT TO UNBUTTON THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR AND REPLACE THE FLAPPER VENT, VENT, CONTROL ARM
WILL THE REPLACEMENTS HAVE THE REDESIGN?
I have a Frigidaire dishwasher just over a year old that is leaking water out of the right side of the door. I have the front of the door off and am running it. but of course its not leaking now. Im pretty convinced that the float that contols the water level intermittently sticks. Im going to make sure the damn thing moves freely and probally replace it before I replaced the whole unit. Im surprised they don't seal the front of the door AT ALL.
