You must first disconnect ALL the stator wires to prevent a bad reading. You MUST have a good meter, cheap ones will not do. Put the meter on Ohms and put the probes together, note reading (this is the resisitance of the meter wires and this reading will need deductiong from the test readings). You will need a service manual to know what that actual values should be at what ambient temp. They are normally very low less than 1 ohm so cheap meters won't read. Check each wire with one lead and the other to the stator metal ground. You should have ZERO any value here is a short. Then check between each pair and read the value (many stators have multi windings T1,T2, Q1 Q2, B1 B2 etc, so you need to make sure you measure across each pair.. Generally values are 1 ohm or less

How do I check cooling fan relay with out a mulity.meter

use a volt meter or test lamp. multymeter performs multiple tasks such as volts, amps, ohms, capacitance, cps, etc.

The relay would have a solenoid coil, it should click when energyzed, two relay terminals correspond to the solenoid relay, power and ground or positive and negative. The solenoid activates by plunger a set of contacts, the contacts will make and break as the power to the solenoid changes. wether these contacts perform or are defective, a test power and load are needed. the relay will need power to activate the solenoid and power to be switched by the contacts to operate a load.
how do you test withouth test instrument? trial and error by bench testing and operating, an understanding of electricity would be helpfull. there is a challenge to your question, no easy answer unless the testing is performed with ingenuity and sabe. bypassing contacts, avoiding shorting out circuits and blowing fuses, get a electric meter, and jumpers, and learn to use it.

How to test a capacitor in a 2800 onan generator

Use a capacitor tester with the proper range of farads. Some electric multymeters include a capacitance, or capacitor test for farads value.
This test tests not for capacitor value but for operation. Connect an ohm meter and the reading should jump before gradually settling to zero ohms. Reverse the leads and again jumps before settling down. Preferably with analog meter. Digital meter still works.
I've also tested capacitors by connecting it across AC voltage and reading the amperes. Then find the resistance of the capacitor with use of math formula R/EI, then use the Xc formula I don't recall now, something like C = 1/ (2pi f Xc).
For DC capacitors does not apply but to use a meter.

Have a ford focus 1.6 diesel 05,revers bulb whent. changed bulb still didnt work, looked at fuses got a multymeter on them.said thay were ok. when started engine up engine management light comes on?

Could be the switch itself that is faulty. Not sure where yours is but could either be broken or not activating (being moved) when engaging reverse. Management light may not have anything to do with it, just a coincidence so treat them as 2 different problems.

Blown fuses

a popped breaker is a short in circuit, first check cord for damage, second it could be heater shorted to block. best checked with multymeter on ohms scale, circuit through block heater is usually 25 to 45 ohms.
