The KX-T7731 is a proprietary system phone. You have a Panasonic phone system. Caller ID is transmitted between the first and second ring but the phone system itself is the only part that gets this information. The system has to be compatible for caller ID and it has to collect the caller ID data and send this information to your phone(s). Your phone can be used on many different Panasonic phone systems. The phone's part number does not help you. First thing you need to do is find out what system you have and if it has caller ID. The phone system part number should start with KXT like your phone.

    I found this information athttp://www.panasonic.com/consumer_electr...

"Caller ID requires an optional KX-TA82493 Caller ID card"

I suspect that Caller ID may be turned off in programming as well by default.

Do you know the company that installed the system? Do you have the ability to make system programming changes yourself?

  • Anonymous Sep 21, 2007

    I found this also:

One KX-TA82493 is included with the control unit and additional two cards can be installed.

So, at least the first 3 lines should have caller ID... BUT it may be turned off in programming. The reason being is the caller ID is sent after the first ring so usually the ring you hear is delayed by 1 ring on a system using Caller ID. People would not want this on by default if not subscribed to caller ID service.

Just bought KX-TGD225 phone system and can't get the caller Id function to work even though I subscribe to caller ID with the phone company. The talking caller ID works but no display on the phone

Please call your phones service provider, they may charge for this service. Just because the phone is capable of caller ID function doesn't mean it is a free service.

Ann also check with your telephone line provider for the land line calls that the subscribed service has been activated that forwards the calling line identity to your land phone line. Could be it somehow has become lost accidentally by the phone company.

It would be worth them checking it has not fallen off your subscriber settings to eliminate it as a possible cause)

Talking Caller ID Handset Dial #162 1 on 0 is off
Base Unit caller id Dial #*162 1 on 0 is off

Guess this toggles it from 1 or 0 in the settings

I have a D211 phone and no caller ID is being displayed, how do I set this up?

Welcome to FixYa!
You have to enter the phone numbers that you want to be identified in the phone book of the phone. If you want to show caller ID's for unknown callers, you have to subscribe it from your network/phone service provider. It is a monthly service fee.
Thank you for using FixYa. have a great day. Jas247

On my Uniden Cordless Tru9380 Series phone, how do I use caller ID ? please give deailed instructions as I've had it for 4 days & still cannot figure out how to do it. Help will be greatly...

Caller ID with Call Waiting is available by subscription from your Telephone provider. With this service, you will be able to view incoming caller information while on a call with another user.

This will allow you the ability to select to talk to this user and put your existing party on hold or make the decision to ring them back.

But, you must contact your Telephone provider and subscribe to the service.

Here is the link for the User Guide: http://www.uniden.com/pdf/TRU9380-4om.pdf

Remember, If you subscribe to Caller ID from your phone company, your phone will show you the caller's phone number and name (if available) whenever a call comes in. If you subscribe to both Call Waiting and Caller ID, the phone also shows you the name and the number of any call that comes in while you're on the line.

Caller i.d. doesn't work piece of junk

Please download this manual, and study e.g on page 21 About caller ID If you subscribe to caller ID service from your local telephone company, this feature displays the name and telephone number of the caller before answering a call (even when you are on another call). The caller ID features of this product will work only if you subscribe to caller ID service and both you and the caller are in areas offering caller ID service, and if both telephone companies use compatible equipment. Contact your local telephone company if: • you have both caller ID and call waiting, but as separate services (you may need combined service), • you have only caller ID service, or only call waiting service, • you do not subscribe to caller ID or call waiting services but wish to try them. There may be fees for these services, and they may not be available in all areas. This product can be used without subscribing to either caller ID or combined caller ID with call waiting service, although the caller ID features of this product will not function.

Caller id is not working

If the caller ID in displaying "Incoming call" either you have not subscribed to the service (caller ID to be pushed to your phone) or you are using a US type phone in UK type countries.
There is also a possibility of Caller ID memory in your phone full, in case it does not overwrite last records by new ones.
