The multifunction priter stoped work ( i beleive it happend after we lost power). Now I have a error mesage on the LCD screen "scanner error". Nothink works. Whole printer is stuck. Non of the buttons works - just beep.
I've some problem whit the printer and my firs check printer make only bips
You should ALWAYS have computers &, printers connected to a UPS, NOT a surge protector.
A UPS for a typical Computer & printer costs around $100.00.
Most big box office stores have UPS's.
Same here-- Scanner Error. The Canon MP530 Manual (in the back, under the error code listing, p. 116 that when you get a "SCANNER ERROR" message, then contact the Canon Customer Care Center. Nice. An error Canon knew would come up, but absolutely can't be fixed by yourself. Apparently, it's not that uncommon.
Effectively, this printer is trashed.

Scanner error appears everytime i turn the printer on and am unable to use it. Happened after a blackout.
Brand new machine I used once to send a fax and the same night we had a power surge and since then scanner error. Nothing works.Power supply seems OK. The scanner light does not come on when it starts like other multifunctions and scanners.
I've reset the printer, run the trouble shooter, everything i can think of.
Canon mp50 printer - scanner error, unable to print
Canon MP530 printer - scanner error, unable to print
Simply the machine is an hour bought and it has never functioned properly. It only displays the message "Scanner error" after turning it on.However, everything seems to be ok as when it is turned on it does nothing I'd call "unexpected". Then an annoying, clicking noise that does not allow the scanner to scan the surface.....and lastly the message.FEW!!!!!!
CODE 5110 WITH MESSAGE CHECK THE PRINTER. TRIED TURNING ON AND OFF.
