Onkyo subwoofer not working

I have an Onkyo subwoofer SKW-530 which is part of a home theatre Onky HT-S780. Subwoofer does not work..no LED light and no sound. Rest of the system is fine. Any advice? If the LED does not light does that mean no power?I have checked the power source and it is fine

I have an onkyo subwoofer SKW-30 which is not working. No power light. I removed the circuit board and a component (probably resistor) looks fried. I need the schematic to get the right part. Onkyo can't furnish, but referred me to Sams publications for the shop manual, which is $38. Does anybody else have knowledge of this speaker?

I fixed my subwoofer. The resistor at R16 (right next to the fuse) was the fried component. I removed it and replaced it with a 13K ohm 5 watt metal oxide resistor (from Mouser Electronics if not available locally). Works fine now. I got the solution and the circuit schematic from an audio hobbiest at diyAudio.com. This is, evidently, a fairly common problem.

Onkyo powered subwoofer SKW-791

Oknkyo SKW-791 has build in amplifier. So it can be connected through Line Out Connector of sansui amplifier. If speakers out is connected with subwoofer, the circuit board in subwoofer will be blown.

How do I hook my onkyo SKW-791powered subwoofer to my onkyo av receiver HT-R758

You need a RCA sub-woofer cable (analog mono) to connect between the receiver's sub-woofer Pre Out and the sub-woofer. This cable has a single RCA plug at each end of the cable. The cable is somewhat thicker than some audio RCA cables. You can use any RCA cable temporarily.

The manual for the HT-R758 is available from Onkyo here: https://onkyousa.com/ht-r758 . The current link to the manual is https://assets.onkyo-av.com/product-manuals/HT-S6500_English_2022-11-02-204020_ivkn.pdf?v=1667421620 . See page EN-13 (page 13 of the PDF) for connecting to the subwoofer. The original package came with a 10' RCA sub-woofer cable, see page EN-1 (page 81 of the PDF) for the speaker list.

I hope this helps.

How do you connect the skw 360 subwoofer to the onkyo tx-sr505 av receiver

Hi Kenny, sorry you can't. The TX=SR505 requires a powered subwoofer. The SKW-360 is passive. Thank you, Onkyo USA

Onkyo skw 591 subwoofer...blue light is on and no sound? any thoughts?

Hello, To test the subwoofer when the blue light is on if you apply your thumb to the end of the subwoofer cable (the end that you would plug into the receiver) there should be feedback from the sub. If there is no feedback then the sub is not working correctly. Thanks, FJD

I have 2 onkyo home theater systems, one is an older ht-r8230 with an skw-8230 powered subwoofer & the other system is a ht-r420 with s powered skw-420 sub. all i did was change the rooms the 2 systems...

It's possible that you have accidentally switched off the sub-woofer outputs on the receivers. Onkyo have a speaker set up test. You should run that and see if the speakers are on and that a signal is getting through to them.

Connected home theatre system but no sound sub woofer

If the system uses a remote control, you may need to adjust the subwoofer out signal setting or turn on the sub in a menu, and on many systems, you can only access those settings via a remote control (you should check the onkyo user manual on how to do it).

Now, this is just one suggestion, it may work, but then again, it may not.

These could also be connection problems or some internal trouble in the onkyo sub signal output section or in the subwoofer input section, but hopefuly, it's just a "turn on" or "signal level" setting in a menu.

Good luck
