sounds like it's unseated - do you get any power to it at all? (i.e. can you open it when the computer is on? if so, if you put a CD in the drive and close the door does the light come on and can you hear the CD spinning?)sounds like it's unseated - do you get any power to it at all? Your DVD drive is missing the Burning Program not the driver. I found an update for your windvd software for windows 7 but you probably have to have the full program installed to run the update. Hope this helps.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the notebook in question doesn't have a DVD drive. After looking at driver for that model, it appears it's only a CD capable machine. Please correct me if i'm wrong.
Look at the drive, are there any markings on it, i.e. a "DVD-ROM" or a "DVD" logo? How about a "CD-R" or CD-R/W" logo? If it does not have any type of DVD logo, then it's not DVD capable.
You need to install all the drivers that cme with it and try going to the manufacturers website and getting any updated drivers.
You will also have to re-install all the software you used to have. Things such as windows updates, Decoders, DIVX codecs, Any burning software like Nero, Anti Virus and so on.
DVD/CD players use two different lasers. One to read DVD and one to read CD. Sounds like your DVD laser burned out. Lasers last about as long as light bulbs do.
It happend just awhile ago this is the first time happening

u can just re seat the drive and check if it resolves there is just one screw beneath the notebook and pull the drive out and then re seat and check
is this a recent occurrence? or has it never been detected?
