If you pressed Fn and the up and down arrow key's to the right of the keyboard the lcd screen brightness should increase or decrease.

  • Anonymous Apr 17, 2009

The arrow's may be listed on the F6 and F7 key's.

The screen on the toshiba laptop is darkened. Is there a dimmer on the brightness somewhere that I cannot find? I see things on the screen but it is hard to see.

Hi If you click on the battery icon on the task bar. At the bottom there is a link to says Adjust Screen Brightness. If click on this link, there should be a slider. This will change the brightness of the screen. I hope this helps.

I can't read my screen because it it too llght

You should have a Fn button on your laptop, and pressing that, combined with the button that has a sun on it should raise your screen brightness, if your screen only has one brightness setting, and it got much darker all of a sudden, your LCD lamp probably went out, in which case it is probably better to buy a new laptop, because those are expensive to replace.

Reset BIOS password at Toshiba 4030 CDS

If the password is stored in the BIOS and not on an EEPROM chip then you can remove the BIOS battery and wait for 1/2+ hour before inserting the battery back in. If you don't want to wait then short out the battery contacts on the motherboard. The BIOS settings will now be set to the factory default.
Alternately some laptops allow you to select an alternate boot up device by pressing the F12 key as you power up.
