Go to start-> control panel->System->Hardware tab and device manager. In device manager expand Universal Serial bus controllers. Right click on each USB root hub (obe by one) and select properties. click on Power management tab and uncheck box -> allow computer to turn off this device to save power.
Problem should be fixed by that

Hi,

If Sony VAIO Z Series notebook shuts down too frequently due to overheating, then it can be an issue with the graphic card. You can resolve the issue by replacing the graphic card. The other possible solution is to clean the system from dust and try to keep its air vents open while sitting on bed as it will heat up if the air passage is blocked. Do not let the problem to prolong as it will damage the processor and the chipset. If the problem persists then contact the specialist or hardware vendor. Take care of the machine and do not let the dust to settle. You can also use an air blower to allow fresh air to circulate through the system to cool it down.

If you have Windows Vista ultimate OS, click on start/click on Control panel/make sure your at Control panel home and not classic/Click on system and maintenance/ Click on Problem Reports and Solutions/wait and let that load/ click on Check for new solutions/you can also click on view problem history or view any one of the problems listed/ This will show you what driver is stopping the shut down of windows vista. Usually it is a simple fix of rolling back the driver causing Vista not to shut down/ always go to your computer manufacturers website to download updates and drivers for your computers features. If it is a driver problem and you can't roll back, you can install the driver in compatibility mode. Right click on the driver you downloaded click on properties make sure you unblock the driver then choose Compatibility tab following the directions from there should be easy.

SOURCE: My sony vaio shuts down in booting process.

Hello.

The most common reasons for power issues are the battery, power jack and power adapter/cord.

Power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.

The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement. If a power jack problem, it should be addressed by someone knowledgeable.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Sony Vaio Laptop vgn-sz330p does not shut down

Hi,

This problem is generally caused by a hanging program or the registry is corrupt.

The best way i have found to resolve the problem is download a small program called "Superfast", not only does it shut XP down it does it in half the normal time and doesn't effect the computer in any way.

Download and install Superfast here >>>>>>>>>>

Once you have it installed try it, you'll be amazed!!!

Regards.

Sony vaio pcg-71318L overheating

Overheating When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are clogged with dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed air to do this.

It shut down automatically and won't turn on after that.

The computer/laptop is heated up too much on the same place. You have to wait about 5-10 minutes if it automatically closes, so it it gets cold.

Vgn-cs26m will not start, boot into windws and shuts down

kevin,
Is this the pink sony vaio? Looks familiar . . .
The problem with this model of sony vaio is the fan that's why it keeps on shutting down after a few minutes. If you notice there is no activity on the internal fan. The internal fan and heat sink is on the same module.I have already replaced the fan on one of this models and its now working just fine.
just look for a spare fan on ebay . . .
hope this helps . . .
