Generac control wires

The cable that came with the generac has 4 control wires in it. The connection block in the generator and the transfer switch has 6, am I missing something or do 2 wires not have to be connected?

the other two are probably for the battery charger circuit

Older model Generac only haver 4 control wires:
N1
N2
23
194
if it is the included wiring harness the wires should have their numbers stamped on the jacketing and a sticker should designate the proper screw to mount it to in both the ATS and the generator housing. hooking these wires up incorrectly often results in blown fuses and/or damage to the control board in the generator.

The 4 wire you have in the cable are utility sense and the start circuit. the two extra terminals that you are talking about are likely the battery charge circuit

Generac Guardian Standby Generator 04760 15KW LP won't stay running

Turns out it was the Manual-off-Auto switch that was bad. My DVM showed a voltage drop across the switch. The controller wasn't getting enough power.

One good thing about it was it forced me to really study the schematics to understand how everything worked. I'm now in the process of designing my own esp32 based controller, with wifi connectivity, to replace the stock control board.

Generac generator won't turn off in automatic

It is possibly a transfer switch issue, not the generator control board. Have an electrican kill utility power, let it start and run, then disconnect the sensing wires in the ATS. If it stops problem is ATS

For these 4 control wires. How many watts do they consume. I have a generator 150ft away from the transfer switch, should these 4 18AWG control wires upsized?

No. They are fine. The voltage is 220. But the amperage is nearly nothing because its just for signaling the generator and switch when the powers out. I install, repair, and service generac products for a living.

I have a new Generac 20KW Propane generator with a rtse 200A3 automatic switch. I had an electrician install the switch and make the connections from to the generator. The generator is blowing the 7.5 amp...

Sounds like the electritian wired something wrong. Control wiring for that generator should be:
N1 and N2 = 240 vac utility input
Wire 0 = ground
Wire 194 (15B) = + battery
wire 23 = transfer signal

Generac 4456 does not start on power loss

I install and work on these everyday. If you hooked up the transfer switch you probable have a control wire wrong. check the utility power sense wire. That lets it no when to start in auto. it could be a relay or fuses. or a control board.
