My Brother jammed while I was embroidering. I finished my design and then when I started the next one, It jammed and said the safety device had been activated. I cleaned the bobbin case and race area, re-threaded, changed needle. It was still jamming. I removed the embroidery hoop and took off the throat plate and bobbin cover. I moved the needle by turning the wheel. The needle goes down once fine but then the bobbin case rotates and the needle hits it the next time it goes down. The little protrusion on the bobbin case is not hitting the silver spring. The piece the silver spring is attached to seems to be moving (loose). Can I tighten this anywhere or will I need to replace this part? What is it called? Is there anywhere that has a diagram? I have seen several people that seem to have the same problem but no one has given a solution to fix it. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

The embroidery unit needs to be calibrated. Can only been done by a trained dealer. you can relax, it is not a major issue and shuold not cost you a arm and a leg. Ask the dealer to also calibrate your touch screen and download the working hours on your machine.

I had the same problem.. I think the bobbin used in this machine is no good I replaced mine.. It cost alot too.. but now I do not have any problems.. good luck

Could the little hook that is stuck over the bobbin area be the thread cutter? My thread cutter gets stuck there and I have to turn my machine off and then try to use the cutter to reset it to its "resting" position.

You may need to have the embroidery unit serviced. The slide rods in the embroidery unit will get dirty over time and must be cleaned and lubricated. If not, the mechanism can not slide freely and you will be unable to keep the unit calibrated while stitching a design.
You could attempt to disassemble and clean it yourself, but if you bring it to a repair center in pieces or improperly assemble your repair is going to cost a lot more than it will if you go today.

Most likely the thread is riding up and out of the tension disks. Look for the small, round opening in the pre-tensioner. It is the metal piece to the left of the horizontal spool pin. If the thread is on the horz spool pin, it will travel in the rounded opening. If the thread is fed in higher up, it can ride up higher in the pre-tensioner, causing it to not be pinched by the pretension spring and it may ride up and over the top of the tension disks. If this is a possibility, rotate the horizontal spool pin out toward you. Place a spool cap on it and feed the thread around it on the right side and below so the thread feeds into the pre-tensioner horizontally and I think that your problem will go away.
The only reason for this to happen is that you are loosing the upper tension for some reason so if my suggestion doesn't work continue to look at the upper tension assembly and the takeup lever.
