HELP!! Only had this printer for 3 months. Expanded our printing business to offer Sublimation. Got off to a great start. However, had a death in my family and we haven't been working for approx 6 weeks, but came back to work a few days ago and commenced with the sublimation. All been going well, until i printed a black image, it came out with lines and more of a grey than a black. I performed a nozzle check to find all the colours are perfect except for the black, it missing loads, i then performed 3 head cleans, doing a nozzle check after each clean and it seemed to get worse after every clean. I then tried the Head Flush! After performing the head flush it came up on the LED display saying "Call Service if Error Reoccurs, SC (20200). I've lifted the flap on the top of the printer to see the print lines, and the black line is empty, not clear, more like a browny color. Any Advise would be great, it's a matter of urgency as i have lots of sublimation to do. Thanks

If you open the printer so the cartridges move to the center and lift the gray handle so you are able to pull the printer head out. Chances are when you do... you will see all the corrosion. Just clean it off and you should be good to go.

I have successfully managed to clean the print head with isopropyl alcohol by placing a flexible plastic tube over the cartridge seat, filling the tube partially with the alcohol, then blowing very hard through the tube. The alcohol does not appear to harm anything.
SOURCE: smeared lines
Okay, this was the problem I posted a few days ago. It's fixed now, so in case you have the same problem with smearing, here's what the help desk from Canon suggested: Open the cover and remove the ink cartridges. There is a gray lever in front of the cartridges. Lift this lever and the printhead can be easily removed.
Our printhead had a buildup of black ink on the surface. I carefully removed this with rubbing alcohol. I let the printhead dry and replaced everything. No more smearing. Imagine a help-desk that actually helped!

Don't use nozzles clean function, besides ink consuming it can cause damages that cannot be fixed: black lines on the back side of the page that will be permanent. Instead put two photo paper together (2x260 gr) and push the two papers together into the printer while printing a motive including many colors. Do so a couple of times and the clogg usually disappears. Good luck! jonk

If it's within 12 months of purchase, Canon will replace free, although you may have to hound them a bit. This problem has occured twice (2 new heads) on our IPF8100 each time about 9 months in.
