I have been searching for 3 days trying to find PDF Viewer to download to it so I can read PDF files. The operating system is Windows CE 4.20. I did find that when purchased new it came with a companion CD that had Adobe Viewer on it so I assume there is a version floating around somewhere that would work. Adobe web site offers Acrobat for Pocket PC but not for this version of Windows. I found one site that "says" it has it but you have to purchase "foxitsoftware.com". I would purchase if I knew for sure it worked. Any help you guys and/or gals would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Pappy

Hi. While holding power button, and pressing reset will do a hard reset to your PDA (reset the device to its factory default settings). So if your PDA is working well, don't do it. As for the syncronization with your Vista PC; Winodws XP uses the ActiveSync software for syncronization, and for Windows Vista, Microsoft developed a brand new syncronization software called "Windows Mobile Device Center". It can be downloaded here: (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center-download.mspx). When you download/install this software to your PC, you should be able to connect your PDA to your PC without any problem, and definitely without changing any OS in your PDA or PC. Hope this helps.
hi i am sorry but you can change the language of your ipaq it's not the roms your have to change you also need to change windows ce and a new license
sorry
1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive.
The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with
a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.
2. Establish an Activesync connection between your iPAQ Pocket
PC and host PC.
3. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions
to install the Real Time Update.
4. Follow the instructions to perform a normal reset on the iPAQ Pocket PC.
on step 3 you should see the setup on your pdas screen do you see this?
OK, this happened to me just yesterday, and I fixed it. Here's what you need to do.
1. Connect your iPAQ to your PC. You don't need ActiveSync, but you do need to make sure that your PC can actually communicate with your iPAQ.
2. Go to where you extracted the ROM update files. It's probably at "C:\iPAQ\SP26263" or something like that.
3. Download a hex editor. Here's one: http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm#download
4. Use the hex editor and open up H2B11020uo.nbf
5. Maximize the hex editor to full screen. Look at the right screen where it says "hp ipaq h1940 1.10.20 ENG". Fill up the top row with zeros. The words "hp ipaq h1940 1.10.20 ENG" will disappear.
6. Within "C:\iPAQ\SP26263", open up ROMUpdateUtility. It won't recognize your device (WHICH IS GOOD). Then you can reinstall the ROM update.
The factory-stock 1940, which uses Windows Mobile 2003, doesn't offer landscape mode.
You can get a 3rd party program called Nyditot Virtual Display that will let you use the 1940 in landscape mode, but I've used it before, and although it works, the problems it creates are not worth it. Besides, that program's not free.
Adobe offers a pdf reader for free that let's you read pdf files in landscape mode.
