Switched to new AO Smith B230SE motor for pool pump. Old motor had left-hand screw that held impeller to shaft. New motor does not have an opening for screw. Will impeller be fine without screw?

Did you try the Century A.O. Smith B230SE motor without the center screw? I'm having the same problem and I'm asking the reseller for advice. It would be great to know if I need the center screw is required? The impeller screws on the shaft, but is the center screw required?

SOURCE: I have an AO Smith SQ1102 pool motor that stopped

no. it sounds like its too late for your motor , no need for a pool pump motor repair kit ,there is one on ebay . but it sounds like your motor is toast if it blowing the breaker... hey i could be wrong . look for a shop that has free pool pump motor testing .use your zip code in your search..
as far as using the bearings off them threw bolt motors. do what ya got to do, but you might find that the front bearing is a bigger bearing .. i charge 85.00 to rebuild a 2.. but you must catch them befor its too late 2hp new = big $$$
best of luck .. and if'n i was any help ? push on them thumbs up to vote ... thanks jay..oh PRIME THAT PUMP !

SOURCE: I had a new motor installed for the pool pump and it keeps blowing the breaker. The pump is a AO Smith SQ1102. We have a 20 AMP breaker dedicated to the motor. The pool comes on for about 30 minutes a

How long has it been since you have the new motor installed? Did it work after the job was completed? Very possible that the starter circuit has failed, usually when it comes on and runs but overheats and stops, the starter and run circuits are both engaged and that causes it to overheat. If you can read the wiring diagram on the motor and make sure it it correctly wired, you may save it if it is a simple loose wire. Otherwise it sounds like you will have to have whoever changed it come back and do a warranty repair.

I tried to replace an A.O. Smith B615 pump with a new one but the shaft doesn't seem long enough to reach the threaded nipple int he impeller. Help?

I suggest you compare the new motor with the old motor. If they are different then you need to get the right one.

I hope this helps.

Hi, I have a QC 1072 A.O. Smith pool pump motor. How to get the impeller off? Which direction does the impeller spin off? Where to but impeller and seal? Thank you very much Greg

The impeller is just screwed on the shaft. COUNTERCLOCKWISE to remove. Some have a screw in the center attaching it to shaft. This is removed by by turning CLOCKWISE.(reverse threads) Remove back cover and secure shaft with a wrench. There are flats on the shaft to hold it. You might need a large pipe wrench to loosen impeller. Wrap with rag so you don't damage impeller.

How do you take off the motor from the pump assembly

Turn the circuit breaker off to the pump. Undo the band that holds the motor and flex plate to the pump. Unscrew the 5 screws on the diffuser ( front of pump ) That will expose the impeller. Remove the rear cover of the motor, (2 -1/4" screw heads) Pull off the rear cover. The impeller might have a screw in the center of it. If it does, the screw is left handed thread. Turn the screw clockwise to remove. Use a 7/16" open end wrench to hold the shaft at the rear of the motor. Put the wrench behind the plate with the two springs on the shaft. You might have to turn the shaft a little to get the wrench on. Remove to screw and remove the impeller, (counter clockwise). Unscrew the 4 motor flange bolts and pull the flex plate from the motor.

I am trying to replace the motor on a pool pump. How do you remove the front end or impeller to install a new motor?

it may have a left hand thread screw in the front of the impeller turn this screw clockwise to loosen, to loosen the impeler just use a 7/16 or a 9/16 wrench to hold the back of the motor shaft look close you will see a slot in the shaft for the 7/16 wrench just under the centrifugal switch , this will hold the rotor still so you can turn the impeller counter clockwise to remove it

Remove the back of the motor ... you will find there are flats on the shaft. Put your 7/16 or 1/2 open end wrench there and with your other hand, spin off the broken impeller.
