Tv turns on, have audio, screen is very bright with very faint video. can use remote and adjust settings but it is still way too bright and video is still very faint in the best configuation with settings.

Your problem is inside the TV - probably the video driver board or components of it. You also could have a dead fluorescent tube - that is the part that illuminates the screen. LCD displays require a light source. If this is an LED TV then you need a video driver board inside the back of the TV - if you don't know what you are doing, DO NOT OPEN THE BACK OF ANY TV. Take it to a repair shop. If it is under warranty, turn it in for service.

You need to perform the flashlight test. Turn off the lights in the room, turn the TV on, take a bright flashlight and shine it on the screen. Do you see the faint image on the screen?? You could have a defective backlight inverter, defective power supply, or a main board issue. You set will require diagnosis to determine.

Hi, if you have audio and any kind of a blank/darkened screen then you either have a bad video hookup cable, defective video input, or a bad backlight system-bulb or power supply to bulb is probably weak from symptom you described. Hope this was of some help-if you can find a You tube of someone adjusting brightness you may be able to blindly hit right buttons to turn down brightness then turn set off then turn back on with a picture again-it's actually not impossible to do, I know because have actually done it once. If when you say faint you mean you can barely make out an image then the problem is most likely the backlight inverter in the screen assembly has gone bad. If what you mean is that the brightness got turned all the way down then it's just a matter of adjusting the brightness of the screen by holding down the function key (Fn) and pressing the LCD screen brightness adjustment keys noted usually by a picture of a sun or something similar accompanied by an up or down arrow.

Sounds like a broken backlight. That's a write-off for an old set, or a factory warranty repair (90 days labor, 1 year parts). First make sure the TV is in TV mode (press mode on the set, or TV/AV on the remote).
Once in TV mode, press MENU and use the navigation buttons (arrows and ENTER) to choose the set to factory default mode.
Also make sure you have a working signal by trying another TV on the antenna or cable coaxial wire.
You can also try adjusting the brightness from the MENU.

whats the brand name of your TV?

also try this, facing the front of your screen. locate a button indicating " menu" and click it.
once the menu button been activated there would be a display box indicating "AUDIO" "VIDEO" "TUNNING" or in some cases the screen will indicate one by one setting every time you press the "menu" button. If you'll able to find a display indicating "video" higlight the said icon and navigate throught it until you see the control for brightness. you can navigate the icon by pressing +/- channel button and to change the value of selected item you need to press +/- volume button of the screen.

Can you be more specific ?
The first step is to isolate the system at fault:
1) Monitor hardware ?
Test it on another PC or
Try a different monitor on the same PC
Check monitor adjustments.
Check the video cable, try another one.

2) What kind of a monitor is it?
CRT (like and old TV) or an LCD flat screen

3) Video card problem, possible but not as likely

4) Video driver or operating software settings issue
wrong video mode, video settings the monitor can't handle,
incorrect device driver

lots of possibilities here.

You might need to adjust the settings by pressing the LCD button then using the up/down/left/right arrows on the player or remote to change color or brightness. If this doesnt work, your screen might be shot. There isn't much you can do if thats the case.
