Hi Marcelo. I´m from Brazil, same CDJ-700s, same problem as yours. From what I´ve researched until now, DWY 1067 an DWY1069 ARE NOT FULLY INTERCHANGABLE on CDJ-700s and maybe 500s. I think some newer 700s already came out with 1069 from factory, so this is why all this misunterstanding. On older 700s that came out with 1067, some SMD components must be changed in the mainboard in order to 1069 work properly. Mine came ou with 1067, I´ve replaced it with a 1069, didn´t worked well (sound skipped, or didn´t play at all).

In 2001 Pioneer released a replacement kit for this situation. The kit is named GXX1200, and includes the optical unit (DWY1069) which is included in the whole mechanical unit (DXXsomething, depends on model), and SMD resistors and capacitors for replacement. Dirty job, I know...

Since I already bought the replacement 1069´s, I´ll buy the SMD components too. I´ll let you know if will this work. Not an easy task, but I´ll try.

Here you can check the whole kit:

And here the documentation for the replacement:

Just updating the info i posted before.

The unit was working pretty well with some increase on the optical unit screw, just skipping sometimes.

Then I replaced the SMD components on main board exactly as stated by the 24001LM.pdf Pioneer doc in order to use the DWY1069 instead of 1067. IT DIDN'T WORK. The unit spins the disk, then stops and shows " e8102" just like with a worn pickup. Increasing or reducing the adjust screw also didn't help, with the unit displaying "no disc".

Since i don't have an oscilloscope to test the unit according to Pioneer Service Manual, i sent the unit to an autorized repair shop.
They told me there's a problem on the main circuit board and they couldn't fix it, so i wondered if the replacement could have damaged the main processor. I'll replace all the components back, install back the DWY1067 and test if it works. If not, i've probably burnt my system following this Pioneer service instructions.

If anyone has any info or update on this kind of problem, please make contact.

    Cheers
    Fernando

    Hola Marcelo!
Brother, no need for excuses, your english is great!

Let me tell you... Since I was to lazy to have all the job undone, I gave up... IĀ“ll sell my two 700s on mercadolivre. If nobody buys them, then IĀ“ll try to fix it again! Because iĀ“ve found out that Liberty Electronics Store on ebay have the 1067 now in stock, can you believe it? So my advice is, if you still havenĀ“t done it already, DO NOT replace the SMD components on the main board. If you still want to fix your unit, buy a stock 1067 for U$24+shipping!

    Best regards / um abraƧo!

Hey atreides/bigboy, Thanks! I saw your post right after posting my last comment with the same link as yours... YouĀ“re right, Liberty Electronics offer a fantastic service. IĀ“ve bought my DWY1069 from them last year, sad fact they didnĀ“t have the 1067 at that time.
Good thing they have it now for all 700s fans!
    Regards
    Fernando

I have successfully replaced the DWY1067 with the DWY1069 on the CDJ500S. Very simple, straight swap. No further work needed.

Hi. Anyone have experience with no power going to the LED display?
With the top cover open, the laser lens moves a little bit up/down, it may light briefly, and then nothing.

I also tried with another top half (with display) and same result.
Thanks.

Hi ..I have Pionner PD-M701 CD Chanager .the player works so fine and recognize all cds in the trays but the issue is in the reading .

hi Sam.
you could try this.
Clean the CD if it skips or the player can't read it. Use a clean lint-free cotton cloth and make sure the CD is not scratched. Use a lens-cleaning CD in the player. If you can access the lens without opening the case, clean it with a cotton swab and lens cleaner.
Why does a CD player skip? They don't scratch as easily as vinyl LPs, but I've damaged half a dozen CDs over the years. If a CD is skipping, first give it good clean using a CD wipe or mild soap and water. Dry carefully with a lint-free cloth in a straight line from the centre to the edge. Rubbing in circles can cause more damage.

CD wont spin so player cant read it. Looks like all other features are working.

Not sure, but it may be related to the optical assembly... it´s always about the optical assembly lol... Does it display any error message?
It can also be something wrong (bent, broken, too much dust) with the blinds-like mechanism where the CD lays down (closed when lid is opened, opened when the lid is closed). So if it can´t "see" the disc, either by a problem on both mechanisms, the spin motor doesn´t starts.

Liberty electronics on ebay have now the ultra-rare DWY1067 optical assembly. Have a check at the sticker on the back of your 700s player, above the barcode. If it was manufactured until 2000-2001 you´ll probably need a DWY1067. After that, you´ll need a DWY1069.

Pioneer cdj-700

Probably your optical unit is worn. If you 700s are the newer ones, it'll be easy. Unscrew the 4 black screw under the unit to release the cover. Is the optical unit is exposed, check the label over it. If it says DWY1069, you'll only have to replace it, readily avaliable on ebay. It can be found very cheap ($15-$25).
If it says DWY1067, you have a big problem like me. 1067 is out of production. Check my other posts on how i'm trying to solve it.

How to detach plastic tray to replace a CDJ-700s DWY 1069 Lens?

There are actually 4 screws. If you can only see 3 then this means the pickup (DWY1069) is already exposed and you do not need to remove the tray.

From here, detach the cable to the pickup (lift the small dark brown cable lock) then loosen the screw on the holding the slide next to the stepper motor and remove the screw at the other end of the same slide. Then the pickup should easily come out.

Pionner DVR-540H-S no longer plays DVD's

little,

good day, true it's not advisable to use disc cleaner for it may also damage or scracth the optic lens inside.Possibly the optic lens of your player is either dirty caust by dust or faulty. but let's do hope it's only dust related and the only thing you can do now is to open and unscrew the upper cover of your player. Get a soft cotton buds, after dismantling the upper cover locate the optic drive lens and clean the lens by wipping it gently in circular direction. then try to play some DVD.

cheers,

X 2 converter

  1. with this combination of camera/lens you will not have AF when a x2 converter is applied! that is because in all canon cameras (except 1D series) there is no AF when the Aperture is smaller then F5.6.
  2. if you don't mind using MF, u need the sigma 2x EX DG Tele Converter.

Cdj-700s

Hi Je remy
I have a 700s too, it´s showing problems similar to yours. Mine is even worst, it almost doesn´t play no more (shows "NO DISC"). Sometimes, when i turn it off and on, or open the cover, it reads... When pause is pressed, it holds the music for some seconds, then it "slides" thru the music... Sometimes it display an error message (something like E-8something).
I think all these errors are caused by a worn optic reader, but i´m not sure. I´ve already opened my unit and cleaned the lens, but no bail.
Here in Brazil a new optic reader can be found for R$150 (around U$90). I´ve just found out the same unit in UK for 150 pounds, so i´m suspicius that those units sold here aren´t really new... I´m planning to replace mine, but first i must be sure that the problem is really caused by the reader.
I don´t know if u have already opened yours, but it´s pretty simple to replace the unit, just some screws to loose (12, if i´m not mistaken - 4 ouside, 4 holding the lens protective cover, and 4 holding two inox sticks where the reader slides over). 700s´ units are Part No DWY1067, and you probably won´t find those anymore. You´ll only find the DWY1069, originally found in CDJ-100s (technically almost same, but probably some newer technology), but they´re totally interchangeable.
Hope could be of some use.
If u want, can contact me at [email protected]
