Honda EB3000c generator won't start? - Honda EB3000c Industrial Generator

So with no load, governor holds engine at normal rpm, but apply electrical load and rpms decrease. So most likely a carburetor issue. If you have't drained the fuel bowl recently, do so. Leave fuel valve open and capture at least a 2 pints (1/2 liter) into an empty dry gasoline container. Be sure to capture first flow as water will be first out.

Pour a fuel sample (cup or so) into clear glass container. Be sure to vigorously shake the gas container before pouring. Wait a few seconds and look for a visible water line. If you detect water drain the generator fuel tank and refuel with fresh fuel.

Could also be there's something wrong with throttle linkage but suggest you check fuel first.

overhaul the carby , check float level, check for full fuel flow

a good book on smaller generators is clymers manual. you may check to see if that one is listed.

take it in for a proper diagnosis and repair

The pull cord is like a starter on a car (separate from the motor/engine). If the pull cord will not turn it could be because the motor/engine is seized.

Hi,
I have a EM5000SX. My problem is my generator will not start unless I turn the fuel selector to off. Then crank it until it does start, turn the fuel back on. Run's normal . I run this generator for my cabin every weekend.

Sorry but is this a problem with your Car, generator, boat or motorcycle?

is gas old? is choke on? is fuel turned on?
