No dial tone in Clarity C4230 setup

Setting up new Clarity C4230 phone and extra handset, but cannot get dial tone.  Other phones get dial tone on same line, so it's phone setup issue. Even after re-registering main handset to main base,  using register menu and waiting for beep, main handset screen still identifies itself as handset #2.  And re-registered auxiliary handset seems to identify itself as handset # 3 or #4.  Is there any way to "clear," or "reset," all handset registrations, before re-registering them thru normal menu procedure? I'm guessing the I am, for some reason, failing to properly register, match up, each handset to base, resulting in dial tone not coming thru on either. Either than are phone is defective and simply does not pick up dial tone at all? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Manual offers no troubleshooting help for dial tone problem--except obvious checks of lines, battteries, dial mode, range, etc.  Manual was dowload pdf, and it has no 800 customer service or further useful details.  May have to take phone into a store/shop for help on this. Suspect it's something quite simple, since unit is new. Thanks.

If you can get dial tone with another phone, look into manual for any instructions, usually a toll free number for help. ( BEST ) otherwise take phone back for exchange. may be problem in the board.

I have 2 problems. 1. The orange message light will not stop flashing no matter what I do. 2. Some how the system was switched from touch tone to dial tone. I can't seem to that switched either.

Resetting the voice message waiting indicator
When you receive a new voice mail message, the new message LED on the top of the handset flashes. In the event your message waiting light gets out of sync with your phone company's
voice messaging system, you can manually reset it back to the "No messages waiting" state.
1. Press and hold FiND on the base for five seconds.
Note: The handsets connected to the base will start to beep, however, keep pressing for five seconds.
2. A beep sounds and the message alert tone is reset.
Changing the dial mode
Your phone can communicate with the telephone network in two different ways: tone dialing or pulse dialing. These days, most base networks use a method called tone dialing, so your phone comes programmed for tone dialing. If your phone company uses pulse dialing, you will need to change your phone's dial mode. If you don't get a dial tone or can't connect to the telephone network, please follow the steps below to modify your phone's settings:
1. Press MENU/SELECT.
2. Select the Global Setup menu, and then the Dial Mode submenu.
3. Scroll to highlight Pulse.
4. Press MENU/SELECT. You will hear a confirmation tone.
If you ever need to change the dial mode back to tone dialing, follow the same procedure, but select Tone in step 3.

Finally for future ease of use, here is a link to the user manual were I copied the above information from:

I purchased an extra handset to a AT&T uniden E2125 system. The phone instructs me to place new handset on main base to register handset. It has registered and now it reads, handset #5. When I try...

I've pulled up the user manual for your phone. Thank you for providing the phone make and model first, and the complete description of your issue!

The manual says the battery should be charged for 15 hours before first use.

You may be set to pulse dialing , even though the factory default is for tone dialing. If you push the 7 key, you would hear 7 pulses or clicks in succession. The dial tone will be gone once a pulse has been received. And you say there are clicks heard and no dial tone.

You can set Handset settings (Page 12 in the PDF copy) and customize how your phone works.

Hit MENU and use the up-arrow and down-arrow keys to scroll to the desired feature., this time called DIAL TYPE, then his SELECT. Looks like the sixth menu entry from the top after LANGUAGE.

It should read:
DIAL TYPE
TONE

If it says something else, perhaps PULSE, use those arrow keys again to change the Dial Type to Tone. Then use OFF to back out of the selection and again to clear the menu.

Attached is the link to the manual. Click the button on the screen to "Open as PDF" and you can open it in your PDF reader software or save it to your device for offline reading.

My phone dials like a rotery not a pulse and is driving me crazy. Please help:)

You don't say what brand and model phone you have so I couldn't look for any detailed information, but somewhere on the phone will be a "tone/pulse" switch. Just where to find it I can't tell you so you'll have to play hide-and-seek.

For corded phones, check the bottom or side of the base part. If the phone has a spot where you can write your phone number, the switch may be hiding behind the paper strip under the clear plastic cover strip. If your phone has memory dialing, the T/P switch may be hidden under the card where you can write the stored numbers. On Trimline-style phones with the dial in the handset, the switch may be on the handset. On newer phones with setup menus there may be a tone/pulse selection setting instead of a switch. On wall phones you may need to take the phone off its mounting bracket to check for the switch.

On cordless phones, the switch might be on the handset or the base, again possibly hidden. Or it may be a setup menu choice again. But somewhere you will find a way to choose which dialing to use. Once you've found it, pick "tone" dialing and you'll be set.

The phone is not ringing and it is plug on charge and my wife got new battery for it too. What can i do to get it working? What size of Batteries cani use for this cordless phone

You need the specific battery pack: 5-2814 for the handset. This is a 850 mAh Nickel Metal hydride battery.

When I see a cordless phone that doesn't ring, the first thing I recommend checking is the phone jack and line itself with a second phone. I prefer to use a corded handset with a new phone cord to check for dial tone. If no dial tone at the jack, check for dial tone at the service entry box. If you have no dial tone at the service box, contact your provider. If it's only a problem at the jack, you will need to check your inside wiring.

To check the base, try a new cable (RJ-11) (double check the power as well).

To check the handset, first make sure the handset is fully charged (16 hours) and that the battery is fully installed. Does the handset beep when the Talk button is pressed? Next check that the handset ringer software is on. With the phone off (not in the talk mode), press the Mute/menu OK button. Use the Caller ID/volume (up/down) buttons to get to the Handset setup menu. Press the Mute/Menu OK button to access the menu. Use these buttons to check the Ringer Volume (should be on) and Ringer Tone. Press Mute/Menu OK to save the settings at each sub-menu. Check that the Do Not Disturb function is not on - this toggles with the Do Not Disturb button and should be noted on the handset screen when on.

If you have multiple extensions on the phone line, try unplugging some of them.

I hope this helps.

Need to change phone back to tone dialing

Here's what the manual says: Changing the Dial Mode (Tone or Pulse Dialing) (HS1 only) Your phone can communicate with the telephone network in two different ways: tone dialing or pulse dialing. These days, most phone networks use a method called tone dialing, so your phone comes programmed for tone dialing. If your phone company uses pulse dialing, you need to change your phone's dial mode. If you don't get a dial tone or can't connect to the telephone network, follow the steps below to modify your phone?s settings: With the phone in standby, press and hold [cid/menu]. Press [vol/ / ] to move the pointer to select DIAL. Press [select/channel] to set the phone to pulse dialing. Press [end]. Return the handset to the base. The handset communicates the new setting to the base, and the base activates the setting on any other handsets. Hope this helps out. K

My phone is stuck on rotary dialing. My handset had all the options but the dial mode. After caller id setup it went straight to languages and then started back over with ringer volume.

1) When the phone is in the standby mode, press menu/mute.
2) Press - to move the pointer to “Dial Mode”.
3) Press select/ch and the display will show the current setting.
(The initial setting is Tone.)
4) Press + or - to change the selection.
5) Press select/ch and a confirmation tone will sound.
6) Press end to exit.

No dial tone on one of my dual set phones model #dx18560-2

You have to register the phone to the base. Read the instructions for adding additional handsets. Regardless if it came with two handsets, one of them may not have been registerd. Sometimes it's as easy as setting the handset in the base, not the extra charge cup, for about 10 seconds. Other times you may need to use the menu on the phone and hold down a button on the base. Good luck
