E2 series not cleaning

After I have vaccuumed for awhile, the water in the basin is still clear. But my floors are still dirty. I have taken the machine apart and cleaned everything. It is still not working correctly. What is wrong with my machine?

  • candchudson Apr 16, 2009

Yes, it still spins. What now?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

If you take the water canister off the machine and lay it the rainbow on its side and turn it on .. does the turbo on the bottom spin?

Are the brushes spinning on the power head? If you disconnect the power head and just leave the hose only with the water canister filled .. does it "**** up" dirt?

I'm having the same problem and the brushes are spinning on the power head? And the other attachment hose does **** up debris from the floor/carpet. The reset button seems to be very loose. I mean it doesn't click or anything when it is pushed and pops back up, is this suppose to happen?

Why will the motor on my rainbow power on if I hold it up off of the water basin and push the safety switch with a screwdriver but when it's sitting on the water basin it won't power on ?

There is a little tab that sticks up on the water basin, this tab pushes in on the switch allowing the unit to run, I'm guessing the little tab on the tank is broken off.

Cannot separate water basin from motor

You need to unlock the latches on either side of the water basin.
If they rusted or froze into place you may have to break them.
There are two latches on either side of the water basin.

Rainbow vacuum is spraying water onto floor

This is usuallly one of two things. Crack in water basin. And the seperator underneath needs to be taken off and cleaned with a tooth brus between each of its fins. Their are alot of fins dont miss one.

Rainbow Vacuum, about 5 yrs old (bought new, no issues prior) - my 6yr old tipped it on it's side while water was in basin. Now when I turn the power on, it makes a very loud sound in the motor and you can...

Although a wet/dry vacuum, it cannot tolerate water in the motor. Water will cause the motor to short out, which will cause the motor to act/sound like yours does now, if it continues working at all.
To prevent additional problems, the vacuum needs to be taken to an authorized Rexair dealer for cleaning and repair. Expect at the very least to pay for a new motor and installation.
Problems like this are why I don't care for any wet/dry vacuums, especially spendy ones.
Oh, you should definitely discontinue use, and don't attempt repairs on your own. Special tools are needed, and if bolts and screw are rusted, breakage may result.

Have a rainbow e-2 that was running and quit.

Hi, there is no reset button on a Rainbow vacuum. There is a safety switch on all E series and E2 series Rainbow vacuums, that keep it from running without the water basin on it.

If you have any more questions let me know. I am a Rainbow seller, and a Rainbow expert also.

Thank you,

One other thing, water sucking through your vacuum should not hurt it. It is not good though, but will not make it not run.

Thank you again,

Shampooer will not work on my e2 Rainbow. Help!

Your Rainbow E series has lost suction power, because you need a new hepa filter, or your water basin gasket is messed up, or the center motor gasket is messed up or out of position.

Make sure your water basin is not cracked or broken, also.
If it is an earlier model, everything applies, except for the filter. They do not have filters, on any of the earlier models.

If you have any more questions let me know. I am a Rainbow seller, and a Rainbow expert also.

My e series rainbow smells very badly... my teenager often leaves the water in for days and that nasty smell has saturated the sweeper itself. How do I get the smell out

You should always put a new hepa filter in any E and E2 series Rainbow vacuum, when it taken to a new home, or every two Years, or so, or if your Doughter makes it get funky smelling. :-) It will smell like the home that it was in, or how ever it smells, until you do.

You can also use fragrances, and deodorizer air freshener in your vacuum, which not only eliminates odors, it add fresh aromas to your air that you breath, in your home, also.

Replace the hepa filter first thing.

The water separator is the thing that spins in the center of the motor where your water basin attaches to it. It looks like a cone shaped fan looking thing. It should be cleaned after every use.

Use your Rainbow separator cleaning brush, or a tooth brush, if you do not have the Rainbow one. They are just like tooth brushes.

Never store your Rainbow canister on your water basin, with or without water in it. It can and will ruin your vacuum in dew time.

Rainbow e2 system. Will not power up

the water basin has a safety on it so the unit cannot run without it. if you look on the bottom of the rainbow you can see a small oval shaped space that you can depress just to test and see if it still runs it will only run with this depressed.
