Shut-Off Problems with Philips 28ps6515/05

Today morning, when I switched-on my TV, it powers on with a Green Screen with some lines and then shuts-off immediately. The Power RED LED on the front of the TV flashes afterwards but the TV doesn't turn and there is no picture on the screen. Please advise what to do.

I found this tv sitting on the curb. when i turn it on the screen powers up, the Philips logo appears on the screen and then it turns off. Is this a power supply issue? how difficult is it to repair?

Green Screen with some lines lines are called retrace lines. it is due to maybe dry soldered or no green drive signal. This problem can be fixed by complete soldering in crt board. 1 green video supply absent 2 loose contact in green skt in crt board 3 crt board loose 4 no green drive signal.

WHEN I TURN ON MY PHILIPS 55PW9383/17F PROJECTION TV I SEE AV2 IN THE UPPER LEFT HAND CORNER THAT IS NOT PROPERLY CONVERGED AND THEN IT SHUTS ITSELF OFF..IT WAS PLAYING FINE EARLY THIS MORNING EXCEPT MAYBE...

All projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both.

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

The power comes on and then turns off and the front green power light blinks.

There is a small IC in the power supply section,
not the IC regulator that's the problem.

Philips Flat Screen Green Lines

The LCD Panel is defective. You will need to replace the LCD Panel. It will probably be cheaper to replace the monitor since the LCD Panel may exceed the monitor cost.

Single lines of single color (red, green, blue) are LCD panel failures.

1 or 2 lines of single color are LCD Panel failures.

Multple color lines could be anything so in this case you start by checking the power circuit.
