Most cable systems today scramble their digital signals in such a way as to require the use of a "cable card" (for TVs that support them) or a set-top decoder box. Hooking up directly to the cable on most cable systems today won't get you much of anything in the way of channels regardless of the type of tuner you have installed. They do this to ensure that you are paying a fee for each set that is connected to the cable (the rental fee for the card or box).
You need an hd cable between your cable box and tv. They don't provide them for free. Once you plug in your hdmi cable to the tv, change its input to the hdmi port you just plugged into. The guide is updated by the cable system on their internet but over the coax. Give it time, it should come back. If not, reset the cable box by unplugging itfrom the wall power, wait 5 seconds, plug it back in. It should come back.
i have a vizio hd tv myself, and i can connect my pc's to it if i have the correct cables. my tv is not internet capable but if it was and you have wireless you should be able to do it without cables. if your pc has hdmi port and your tv has hdmi port that would be the easiest way. else look at tv for a pci connection and get a usb/pci cable to connect the two.
Usually a TV that pixelates only on some channels is a problem with the signal levels coming into the TV or the cable box. If you are using a cable box then definatley the signal is the issue..
The signal board is bad. Replace this board, its the one with the rca jacks and rf connectors. Warranty work will cover this repair. As we say in Nebraska.......Getter Done!!!!!
it is important to understand the difference in digital cable and high def. high definision is on a fiber optic display alwing milions of pixels per square inch on your tv. the resolution effects your fuzzy picture you are recieving . the only real way to fix that fuzzy dull picture is to get a HD box from your cable provider and an HDMI cable to conect it to your HD TV. this is the only connection you will need for picture and top line sound. In the end the fee is usually $9.95 or less a month and it is well worth the difference in quality of TV viewing.
You can use a cable box providing that its HD option is working. With many of the cable companies, you have to pay to have the HD option in the cable box activated. Then you have to pay subscription for the HD channels. That is the way it is at where I am located. Without the HD subscription active on our cable boxes this feature is dead!
The only reliable way for you to know if the HD option works in your TV itself is to get a known to be working HD source such as an HD DVD player and try it out.
