Hello,
A password on boot is not set by default. The owner activates this option. If some prankster or michief maker has entered a password on boot on your computer without your knowing it, there is nothing you can do, save taking the machine to an HP Certified Service Center to have the password removed or reset.
As the password on boot is a deterrent against computer thefts, you might be asked to show proof of ownership. This certainly is the case with Toshiba laptops.
if you forgot your password restart in bios then advanced or security and user passwords you can change
bios administrator password i am not sure if you can change or remove if you forgot it
you can also restart in safemode and follow instructions i gave you earlier
If you have forgotten your password and it is stored in the BIOS, then you can reset the BIOS to the factory default state by removing the BIOS battery, wait for over 1/2 hour for the BIOS to discharge and wipe its contents, then reconnect the battery. You will need to reconfigure the BIOS before Windows opens.
I do not know this model, but if the password is stored in an EEPROM chip then it is near impossble to reset it without knowing the actual password. It would be difficult to remove, if you know a friendly hacker with a piece of hardware that can read the contents of the EEPROM chip and then identify the password, so he can tell you what it is.
Best of luck.
Why? What happend? Is it asking for a BIOS password?
If it is asking you have to short two jumpers on the systemboard to have it reset. If not, just go in to BIOS by pressing F2 then restore or optimize default settings on BIOS.
