CyberPower 325SL backup system

I have a CyberPower 325SL backup system w/ an internal battery and lately it has been plugged into another surge protector and has worked fine. I took it out to use it separately and now it will not work properly. The battery charges and when I plug in/ turn on the surge protector the "Power On" light comes on for about 5 seconds and then the system turns off and starts to make the characteristic long beep. I've tried turning it on and off and also have plugged it into several outlets in the house and the problem seems to be with the surge protector.

That's a tell tale sign of wornout batteries. They last about 3-4 years in a UPS like this. Here's a replacement: http://www.batteryinternational.com/cyber-power-cps325sl-ups-battery-ups-batteries-f1.html

SOURCE: CyberPower 325SL won't work...

NEVER mix surge protectors and UPS!!!. Doing so overloads whoever of the two gets connected to the wall. This equipment is built to be plugged DIRECTLY to the wall. Your unit just crossed it's inner battery. Take it to a recycling center, then stop on your favorite electronis shop and buy a new one.

Not Working During Power Outage

Bad battery in the UPS. To test unplug all equipment. Check outgoing power with voltage meter. Should read around 115vAC. Then unplug from the wall outlet. Check voltage again. If no voltage is present its a bad battery.

Why does the 4 outlets (surge only) of my cyberpower 685avr work while the 4 outlets with battery doesn't?

The battery only works when it isn't plugged into the wall. That's what a battery backup is for,so when the power goes out, the battery kicks in.

Yes it will work just fine make sure that the outlets you are plugging into the 3 are surge protected. Thanks for using FixYa! Most battery backups and backup modules are surge protected on-board. John

Turned off my system

Well, it did just what it's supposed to do, protect your system from bad power. You probably had a power failure during the thunderstorm and your UPS shut down your PC. When you turn it back on the battery was too low and it shut off you PC again.Check your UPS software in windows, you should have an option to run a self test. But it should be just fine.

The battery plug in area is dead but the surge protector side works

Hello Vicki,

What you are describing is usually a result of the batteries losing their ability to hold a charge.

The surge protector side does not rely on the batteries.

I found good batteries at a reasonable cost on ebay, but I think you're going to need to replace batteries at this point.

Hope this helps.
