Sears Kenmore model 417-Tumble Action front loader stops after wash cycle, stalls just as Rinse is to begin- in all modes. When manually moving dial to spin, it spins and drains fine. The lights stay on, and I hear motor, but no action occurs. It was recently transported from another location. Can this problem be resolved from a front access panel? It is in a tight corner, which was a nightmare to position. I don't want to do it again, and hiring a repair person to move it all out will add even more time/money to bill. Is this a do it yourself repair?

Generally speaking you will need to at least remove the top of the machine, usually there are a few screws and then it pops off. Also see if the control panel has a screw in it that attaches to the top of the machine. If so you will need to remove this also to avoid breaking the panel. Hopefully you will be able to view all you need to , do you see any signs of the drum hanging awkward like for instance it seems to pitch back,if so there is the issue.I have had to reattach the suspension spring that balances the drum.If so get a good pair of locking pliers to stretch that spring back to its original location, this could have come off during transportation.Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Kenmore front-load washer stops at rinse cycle

When the washer initially fills for the wash, is it only hot water entering the drum? Try switching the water temperature between hot and cold as it fills. If any of them show little or no water getting through, it sounds too easy but check to make sure water supply taps are on, and that the cold/hot fill hoses aren't reversed. Remove the fill hoses and check any of the screen filters for blockage (in the hoses and in the inlet water valve). When the machine stops and waits to fill but all you hear is a hum, it sounds like there is power going to the valve but water is not able to get through it.
Good luck!

Top loader series 80 Kenmore doesn't stop after the whole wash cycle, it goes directly to 2nd rinse, then spins again and stops?

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Since it does everything else, the problem points to the timer.

See the following Whirlpool / Kenmore installation and service manual for top load, direct drive washers with an extensive troubleshooting section.

Kenmore 70 washer, does not move from one cycle to another

This appears to be a timer / timer motor problem.

I'd also look at the Whirlpool / Kenmore direct drive installation and maintenance manual for testing the timer.

HE2 front loadable washer doesn't move fm wash to rinse to drain

Sounds like the door lock. It will not advance to spin if it thinks the door is open. There is a instruction sheet inside the unit behind the lower panel. That will give the error codes for the flashing lights.

Kenmore 80's series top loader only works on wash and rinse cycle

This is a problem with the pump being stuck so the motor cant turn the whole thing. Turn the washer on its side, underneath you can acces the pump, which is connected to the motor by two long clips. remove the pump and take out the colg that caused it to get stuck.

Washer will not do a spin cycle for rinse or end of cycle

you can check two things,. One is, is the belt broken or stretched, the other is the motor, is the motor turning if the motor is turning then replace the belt. If the motor is not turning replace the motor.
