This sounds like a pressure switch failure. follow the power cord to where it enters the compressor and the switch should be there. you should be able to order a new one through sears service center. Good luck.

SOURCE: compressor shuts off before reaching max pressure

Yes,but if the max is 125 you don't want to increase it above 110 and set off the pressure relief valve.

SOURCE: craftsman 3 gal air compressor - no air presssure

Check the head gasket. Mine just did the same thing. Mine was blown between the two chambers on top. It's very thin right there. I went to the auto parts store and bought some gasket and made my own for about $6. It's up a working great...finally. BTW the gasket kit is on back order right now at Sear's parts website. It appears we aren't the only ones with the problem!

I add 24 OZ.of R134.the pressure on the gauge is a little pass 55 psi. the gauge is in the red the air is cold coming through the vent did i add to much Freon?

The gauge should be in the green at all times, also if the compressor is making noise you may want to add a/c oil, but you will have to evacuate some freon, if you are adding freon may have a leak or a partially clog system and the freon gets forced out under high pressure

Why will my bostitch pancake compressor 240 psi tank 180 regulator that the guages will not show building pressure

Hi, There are different posibilities. I would need more information. Was it always like that? Does the guage on the main tank and the guage on the regulator both not show more than 20psi? When the auto shut-off is triggered do you feel there is more than 20 psi in the tank?

Why does the presure change from 10psi to 20 psi when i insert the filter. Once the filter is in the presure drops and the psi goes from 10 to 20.

Because the filter restricts the flow of water as it passes thru the element to be cleaner. As a result, pressure in the tank being read on the pressure gauge goes up and the return pressure you feel at the pool wall goes down.

My compressor will not go over 20 psi i have a craftsman 921 4 gal 125 psi compressor and it will not build past 20 psi i do not know how to get to the pistons and stuff what do i do?

The problem with compressors not building pressure is usually a bad pressure switch or bad regulator. Does the motor shut off at 20psi or does it continue running and not build pressure? If the motor continues to run with no increase in pressure, the you should go over the machine looking for air leaks from your regulator back all the way to the motor. Any air leak while the compressor is running can cause the pressure to "peak" way before the intended shutoff that it is regulated to.

I have craftsman 20 gallon five horse compressor. It pumps up to a certain psi and then it bleeds the pressure until it reaches a certain point and then pumps up again. The way its lets the pressure out...

The operation of that compressor is that the pressure switch will open when it reaches its set pressure, usually about 125 psi. when the switch opens and the motor comes to a stop the little valve on the side of the switch is meant to unload the pump head of pressure for the next start up. the pressure in the head and the tube leading to the tank is what is relieved, to prevent tank pressure leaking back there is a check valve where the discharge line enters the tank. what it sounds like is that check valve is not closing when the pump stops, and should be replaced.

Air pressure does not go over 25 psi I have taken the whole unit apart and check, relief valve, regulator, check valve. Pressure switch, Piston & Gasket. everything seem good I have taken the pressure...

Does it shut off at 25 psi or just keep running and never build more pressure than that? Also, did this come on gradually or suddenly? Also, was it being used regularly when it happened or had it been sitting for a while?

Low psi while running continuously.

i am assuming this is an oil less compressor as I have never seen a crapsman compressor that is not
you need to feel around the head and see if there is air leaking anywhere usually around the tube that goes to the tank or the pressure relief valve
