Timing marks on 2002 2.4 litre engine

but I guess you do not know here #1 SPARK PLUG is.??????
well on all V engines
number 1 is offset most forward bank.(MEANS closer to the crank pulley)
3.7L Duratec (227kW/301PS)

order is
1-4-2-5-3-6

facing it 4,5,6(bank 2)
far side 1,2,3 (bank1)

You need to line up timing marks exactly on the timing gears. Setting timing by which way the lobes face is guaranteed to end in failure

Align the cam sprockets to the top of the engine with the little arrows on the head. Then you will notice the belt is aligned on the crankshaft at the bottom of the engine with the keyway facing slightly to the left (11 o'clock position or so). It will not be straight up. There is a little "o" mark on the crankshaft sprocket which aligns with a mark on the new belt. Getting these marks exact requires writing down their exact locations before removing the old belt. Don't try it from memory unless you are a trained toyota factory technician. The cam sprockets at the top of the engine are lettered "R" and "L". The new timing belt will have corresponding letters. The timing belt has to be placed on with the letters reversed as they are facing you (as the "R" cam is actually on your left as you face the engine from the passenger side). My job turned out excellent. Cost me less that $50 bucks. I did not change the tensioner although it is recommended. My theory is that it will last until the second timing belt job since it does not have a lot of moving parts and is enclosed and lubricated constantly.

I had the same diagram problems too I got two that still didn't seem to work right.
I used the timing marks found on the timing belt cover for reference, found top dead center on #1 and lined up the mark on 05 on the cover.
Then lined up the **** marks near the timing gears all together. Make sure you get the tension-er tight after this ,nothing worse than leaving that bolt loose and having it all slip when you go to start it.

You have to remove all the brackets holding the top of the engine on the passenger side of the car, alternator, power steering, and A/C belts. Then you can get to the plastic covers that enclose the timing belt. The large bolt holding the harmonic balancer was a hard one for me - had to use a large air impact (fortunately my neighbor has a tire business and had a huge compressor on the back of his truck).

There should be an emissions label under the hood (the front of the car) and near that there should be a diagram showing how the belt is routed just buy the correct belt and put it on but be carefull cause the belt has to tensioned correctly or it will fall off.

There are 4 marks on the crank pulley. When standing on the driver side of the car looking down on the pulley, the mark farthest to the right is the mark for TDC (Top Dead Center). The three marks on the left are for the spark timing. Of these three the mark in the center should align with the arrows/triangles on the timing belt cover when the engine is running and a timing light is shining on the crank pulley. The outer two marks represent Honda's tolerances for the ignition timing. As you look at the cam pulley the correct mark is at 7 o'clock with the two other marks at 3 & 9 o'clock positions. make sure you have correc timing, honda have "O" tolerance when it come to piston and the valves meets. or stop by any auto part store they should have Hane's auto repair manuel for 20.00 buck, worth all the money with proper instruction including picture, great investment to have for the future repair. spend little money to make sure you do the right job. good luck!!

I to 1.5 litres should do it

Park the truck on level ground and let the engine cool down

Dip the oil then and check the level

Add 1 litre of oil and give it time to drain down into the sump say 15 mins

Dip it again and add a little at a time till you hit the mark.

that motor should be a 3.2 litre... 6VD1 there are timing marks for the cams and crankshaft... one is to the left of the left cam... the other is to the right of the right cam.... and the marks for the crankshaft pulley are at the 9 and 3 position on a clock.

the 2.3 litre appears to be a single cam

Sounds like the "CPS" camshaft position sensor.
