Olympus VN-4100PC Digital Voice Recorder Logo

I recorded my professors lecture and the recorder was right next to her, when I listen back I can barely hear a thing all there is is her voice but muffled because it sounds like a loud wind

Similar problem. Interestingly, in the record mode if you tap or scratch the opening where the microphone is, the sounds are recorded. That said, if you yell into the mike it does not record your voice. I pulled the recorder apart to see if there was anything loose, nothing. You can't get access to the actual mike it seems, hence why I am checking this site.

Bought from Future Shop and wouldn't you know, the one year warranty expired 4 months ago.

    Good luck!

During Playback you can press + or - buttons to adjust the volume. Maybe this is your problem. If you need more info watch video instructions chapters for Olympus on http://www.HandBookLive.com under Electronics-> Audio. There are 20 different video chapters. The info about + - buttons for volume during playback was chapter 7 (Playback)

I have an option on my sandisk sansa fuze mp3 player for voice recordings. There is pre-recorded literature that I would like to download, but, I only know how to download these voice recordings under...

You can't. Audiobooks are just like music, and the Sansa treats them that way. Think of them as words spoken without music.

Voice recordings are made on the Sansa, when you use it as a digital recorder. You can record lectures, meetings, or notes to yourself, and play them back.

Problems in transferring voice (lecture) files to Mac

WMA is a windows standard. You can get the free components for Quicktime from Microsoft's web site. This should solve your problem.

Retrieval of deleted voice recorded file

maybe, there are programs that retrieve deleted files, but sadly you need to buy them.

this only works if you havn't added any new voice recording (or a lot of voice recordings) or if you havn't reformatted your player.

Not playing full recording

Hi,
Maybe it's the preview play option of the player that you are using. It only plays a part of the recording for you to identify if it is the right recording that you are trying to find because the recorded allows you to record more than one file.

IHP120 20gb multicodecjukebox-voice recording

Sir,
I solved the problem .Actually under the SOURCE title it was under the LINE IN.There were some more options like INT.MIKE, EXT.MIKE, OPTICAL. So i first tried under external mike by connecting to the EXT.mike and selected the source and by removing the external mike switched to Int. mike and changed the source. It automatically picked according to the source and played the recording and saved it in the file and later heard the lecture with the head phone and later converted in to a file in the laptop. Now it is working nicely. A really a good product to make use and it is very much user friendly.
Thanks again.

Cradle/USB malfunction?

It is not obvious that the cable should be used one way and if someone plugged the cable in wrong even once(this really doesn't take much pressure), it can damage the Female end of the connection. Make sure the arrows align on the recorder and cable and if it doesn't work it is most likely physical damage.

Not Able to Record/Playback

can't record on the my Olympus VN-1000
+ I press rec button and it just shows rec in display (no recording time is shown ONLY rec)
+ there is no play back  or stop function

+ i can only stop  rec by removing batteries (stop or play will stop rec only ONCE - but there is no  useful function - such as play or stop or rec.)
+ I tried all trouble shooting tips in manual  with no effect
+  i cleaned the spring contacts inside battery compartment that interface with the  batteries
+ it was barely used - and has not been used for a 1 year ( no batteries were inside it )     it was inside a drawer
