Laptop slammed shut

Laptop does not recognize the OS now. Startup repair asks for repair point, image point, it does not find repairs on its own. there is not a restore point I am told.

OK, I would try to restore to the earliest date possible, or Recover to original state of computer from factory. The latter is more radical than the former, but it will guarantee that any corrupt files are eliminated.

My hp 630 laptop was working well but today when i turn it on, it will start but will remain at Press The ESC Key for Startup Menu and will not continue. What should i do.

It seems your boot image has been corrupted. Pleas try following methods.
1. Go to BIOS settings by pressing F2 during boot. Insert portable OS flash drive in to USB slot. Then select boot from external storage. This will run your portable OS and take back up of your important data to other hard drive. Then reinstall OS image.

2. If you are using windows OS, go to startup system repair option during boot. That will restore your system.

Dell-n5050 laptop; windows failed to start; code-0xc000000e; boot failed because required device is inaccessible. I have Dell OS media stick. and is there a free fix for this problem?

That code is a Windows boot error. I'm not sure what you can do with the Dell OS media stick but the traditional solution with a regular hard disk is to take a Windows 7 OS disk, boot with it, and run startup repair. Here's a link to Startup Repair: Startup Repair Microsoft Windows

I can't log in, it says that startup can't fix the problem.. I tried to recover my computer but I didn't save any image or backup on it.. I tried to fix hardware errors but it doesn't work...

You need to borrow an installation CD for the OS you are using
Insert the cd, boot the laptop up and let it find the previous installation of the OS
It should then perform a repair.

When ever my computer shutsdown it goes to startup repair. sometimes it works itself out. but every morning i wake up to it with the startup repair screen on

Sartup repair is some thing that tries to fix the OS issues...
Normally its of no use.. Its better if you can reinstall the OS after getting windows and taking backup of all your important files..
It should be vista or win 7 that you have on the computer then tap F8 when the computer turns on and then you will be able to see the advanced boot options.. Select repair my computer.. In the repair my computer screen select the dell factory image restore...
Your computer will go through the installation and it will be up and running...

If you are not able to do this then try to reinstall the OS with the help of a OS CD..

CANNOT LOAD MACBOOK. TAKES FOREVER TO GET PAST THE APPLE LOGO, THEN WON'T EVEN GET TO THE POINT WHERE IT ASKS FOR PASSWORD

Insert your Leopard OS disc and startup your mac while holding down the C key to have it startup using the OS on the disk. When it's loaded, DONT do the install, but go to the desktop menu and launch Disk Utilities and do a disk repair and permissions repair... you should see a good improvement on startup

Windows will not start up on acer aspire 4315 notebook

If you have data that you need on your laptop you may want to take it to Geeksquad or to someone and have them pull the informaiton off. If you have the restoration disk you may want to use them. Either your hard drive messed up or the software on it did but unless you have a windows xp cd to do a repair install (installs a "fresh" copy of windows). If you do not have either the windows xp cd or the restoration cd you can obtain them from the vendor or maker of the computer. The price for these disk should be about $30.00.

Startup repair

Did you try using Safe Mode? Hit F8 when its booting and choose safe mode. See if that will let you boot into the OS.

Startup Repair Problem

Ok, as you have probably guessed, the hard drive is failing. It probably has some bad sectors. The solution is to replace the hard drive and re-install the OS and all of your applications. Then there is the question of data recovery on the current drive. Do you have access to a computer with internet and a CD burner? If you do, you can go to http://www.puppylinux.org/downloads/official-releases and download ver. 4.2. This will be an iso download. Burn the iso image to a cd. Once that is done you will be able to boot the laptop with the CD. The puppy linux OS will be loaded into RAM. You will be able to access the hard drive and backup your data on a memory stick. Once that is done, replace the hard drive and start the installation process. If you have the recovery CD(s) from Dell, Windows will be redone just as it was when the laptop was new.

Good luck, and please let me know if I can be of any more assistance.

Old Quantum IDE Drive (85 meg)

Hi walter, that usually means the first few sectors are bad(they are the important ones) or, the drive has a faulty motor/ is drawing too much current. There are two things to try. if you have a CDrom drive then boot a clean OS eg windows 98/XP from cdrom, or whatever os you were starting on that drive. you might then be able to access the hard drive from the command prompt or from the windows os on the cd in which case its just a few bad sectors that may be repairable by diags. Alternatively download burn and then boot a Hard Drive Diagnostics disk such as Hitachi(IBM) DFT. see it here the 2720K image https://www.hgst.com/support/hard-drive-support/downloads/legacy-downloads run a quick test and that will definitely indicate the true problem.
