I have the same two-way radios and the same battery problem. How can I find the same specs in a different brand of rechargeable battery? The battery is 7.4V/65mAh.

This seems to be a common problem I have one radio with a MN-0160001 battery that is totally dead. Seems impossible to find replacements.

I ordered a set of Cobra radios, when I received them and tried to charge them, one radio charged the other did not. I called the company that sold them to me and I get the run-around. I can find the 650mAh battery at Radio Shack on line, but not the 950mAh that came with the units.

I have the same problem... Bought new COBRA walkie talkies in October 2006. They worked fine for 6 months, then one battery was dead after leaving the units off for a week . . the other battery was fine, So now, one battery is fine, the other won't take a charge at all. Radio Chack and Circuit City have no replacements and say they cannot even order them.

    COBRA...can you help?

First put the dead laptop battery in a zip lock.
Then put the zip into refrigeratory and keep it in freezer for 14 - 15 hours.
Afer waitinf for a long time, take the dead laptop battery out of refrigeratory .
Using clean and soft cloth to dry the battery and get the battery to room temperature (about 20° - 25°)
In the end fully charging and discharging the battery for 3 - 4 cycles.
Now you would see that your dead battery holding up charge for 1-2 hours.

Will not run on battery. charged battery but will not hold charge.

Hi Martha, had a bit of a look around and noticed a few mentions of charging problems including the following - 'One of these units was apparently dead on arrival and on further investigation, it worked off mains but not from battery. The battery comes out from a flap underneath the unit, and on testing with a multimeter, it was under voltage, so must have been old stock. Despite 2 days of charging, no life, so I ordered a replacement battery (RITAR RT1250 or equivalent 12v battery) and it works fine. I also have a proper battery charger rather than use this unit's own charger, which charges the battery rapidly, but I think at the cost of battery lifespan. Given that I use this unit infrequently, this is fine, otherwise use the internal charger as normal. With the new battery, I've never managed to run out of battery.. it will keep going all day on a single charge.

The manual does state that if you don't charge the unit at least every 6 months, it may not charge.'

I know it's not exactly a resolution but hope it helps!

Cobra cxt195 won't charge

There is nothing wrong with your battery or your radio. you bought it a walmart at the lowest price available. this means you get what you pay for i.e. no frills the indicator flashing means it is connected to a power source and is charging / Maintaining the battery. it will only come on again when the battery is below 1/8th of the battery life and flash to let you know it needs to be charged again. there is no battery level indicator. these will work just fine but dont expect the 1-16 mile range they advertize unless you have full charge alkaline batteries and a direct line of sight to the one you are talking to.

My rino won't charge

Two things occur to me: possible damage to socket where charger connects to unit------or no voltage from charge source to the battery

A lot of the connectors where the unit connects to power are easily damaged.

The low battery light remains on after I changed the battery,

Hello
There are two possibilities for this fault. The first one is with its battery itself. If the battery did not hold current, in otherwords, it has weak, proper charge both in volts and amperes won't hold on it, and when the device draw current from it while it works, voltage drop will occur, and low voltage indication will be displayed.
The second chance is due to the charger circuit inside the radio. If charger circuit do not give proper voltage and current to battery, the battery won't charge to its full capacity.
Check it by replacing it with a new battery [batteries] first. If it helps you it's OK. If not, your radio need service, and its charger circuit must be checked well. OK.

BATTERY SHOWING CHARGING, BUT SHOWING 0% AVAILABLE

This is an indication that the battery is dead. A dead battery won't accept any charge from a charger. If the laptop will operate when plugged in with or without the battery, it's a bad battery.

AA battery blinks red when inserted in charger. Is it dead?

You will need to check the voltage of the battery before and after charging , If the voltage is not coming up to 1.2V then the battery is defective. even if the voltage is present but does not drive the unit then the charge is not retained. If so the battery can be defective.
check the terminals of the charge for the charging voltage, use a Ammeter with a load to test the current. If these test prove good then the charger is working fine.

The battery doesn't stay charged in Guardian 10K

I think that is the problem as well. Temporarily, you could just buy a tricke charger from the parts house and hook that up until your other one is changed. Rick
