Corel WordPerfect Office 12 Home Edition (WP12ENGPCHE) for PC Logo

Unwanted headers/footers I recently finished a lengthy document; 15 pages to be exact, and decided to finish editing at a later date--here's the problem: every time I open the document, somehow there are all kinds of footers/headers added that break each line in the document into a new page. Help!!

I've never had this problem, but if you hit "Alt-F#," you'll get "Reveal Codes" at the bottom of your screen. Then go to the first page of the document where the problem begins, locate the code for the footers and headers you don't want, and then delete those codes.

Another, probably simpler approach is to click "Insert" and on the drop down menu, click "Header/Footer." Then unselect whatever is dotted. That should get rid of the headers and footers. JS

That should have read, "Alt-F3" for reveal codes, not Alt-F#. Sorry. JS

In Word, In print layout view, you can quickly switch between the header or footer and the document text. Just double-click the dimmed header or footer or the dimmed document text.
To view a header or footer, switch to print layout view. To edit or format a header or footer, you need to display the header or footer you want.

How do I remove header and footer workspace from Word 2007?

1. Go to the page where you have the header/footer problem in your document
2. On the "View" tab of Word, click "Print Layout" (if not that view already)
3. Press the "Insert" tab
4. You should see an option that says "Header" and one that says "Footer" with a drop-down menu. For each, choose "Remove Header" or "Remove Footer" on the drop-down menu.

I loaded MS Office 2003 on a new laptop running Windows 7, only to find that Word opens as a blank page with no toolbars, rulers etc - only the writing area. Excell works ok

The Word 2003 Window When Word is first started, a new blank page titled Document1 is opened automatically. This is a fresh page where you can begin typing a new document.
  • At the top of the window is a row of menus, including File, Edit and View.
  • Below that row of menus is a row of buttons for various tools (collectively called the "toolbars") to use in creating and editing your document.
Layouts in Word 2003
Normal - Normal is the default Word 2003 view. It shows just the text that you are working on, without margins or header and footer information. It doesn't differentiate between different pages of text.
Web Layout - The Web Layout displays the document as if it were a web page
Print Layout - The Print Layout shows the entire page you are working on, including margins, header and footer information. It shows the layout of the text on the page the way it would be displayed if printed.

I'm having issues with editing the header, I want it to say running head and title on the first page and then only the title and number following pages. I want MO 2003 back! donna

If you already have multiple pages in the document, go to your header. Click into it like you're going to edit it. This should open up the Header & Footer Tools tab on the ribbon (ie the giant menu bar at the top). Click on this.
On the Header & Footer Tools tab, 4 groups over from the right is a group called "Options." Make sure that the "Different on First Page" option is checked.

If you set up your header before you check this box, the first page header will delete itself. No need to panic, just copy it from the second page and then set up the second page header to your liking.

Word 2007 has inserted unwanted line across page of a text document. I can't select and delete line. How do I get rid of it? nickdb

It is probably the header that needs editing. You can edit the header by simply double clicking on the text or right click and edit header. To delete header go to: Insert, header icon and delete header at bottom.

Hope this helps!
