I have a Onkyo HT-R530 Audio-Video receiver coupled with a Onkyo DV-CP702 6 disc DVD player. Everything was working, including audio and picture, until I carried two remotes together (one on top of the other) and apparently pushed some button. Now all I have is audio, and the picture is a few fuzzy B&W lines which are distorted. How can I get my picture back?
This happened a few years ago, and after a few 100 mile trips to a authorized repair shop in Lexington, KY, the problem was some kind of switch or button was either turned on or off incorrectly, as the DVD would work if connected directly to the TV. As we enjoy the surround sound of the AV receiver, as well as the component video hookup for the picture, we would really appreciate some minds sharper than mine (>99% of population) seeing if they can help, as season one of Big Bang DVD is still waiting patiently to be finished the first time.
Actually, I don't think your problem is a matter of buttons pushed on a couple of remotes at all. I looked around the web and noted several instances that instructors may have confused readers, including those of the notably confusing user manual, as to how many of the multiple video inputs can be used simultaneously, and I believe you should choose the highest fidelity video input, whether optical or even composite, since your symptoms seem those of a situation where several video inputs are superimposed one upon another, which is an absolute no-no, and can ruin your video amplifier.
Check for multiple video input hookups before you burn out the vid-amp.

From what I find on the internet, the Receiver and the DVD player do not have any HDMI connections. Therefore, I'm using the S-Video connections. The best way to hook these components up is the following.
DVD player - Use an S-Video Cable on the OUTPUT and connect this to the S-Video Input on the Reciever. Also, connect the two audiot OUTPUTS (red/white) on the DVD player to the RECIEVER's two audio INPUTS (red/white)
RECEIVER - Use an S-Video Cable and connect to the S-VIDEO MONITOR OUTPUT and this will connect to the TV's S-VIDEO.
Speakers will connect to the Left Right Front Speaker, Left Right Rear Speakers, and Center Channel. The sub woofer needs to be connected to the Sub woofer/PreOut terminal on the Receiver.
You cannot plug in a turn table to this receiver because it does not have a pre-built pre-amp. So unless your turn table comes with a pre-built pre-amp you cannot use it with this receiver.
There are a lot of models mentioned in this post. What are WE discussing?
* A Samsung HT-Z310 is a Home Theater System.
* An Onkyo TX-DS777 is higher-end AV Receiver that DOES have a Video 3 input which accepts composite video and analog audio.
* An Onkyo CD player is irrelevant to the TV sound in any scenario.
* Unnamed TV.
I don't see any path in your narrative that would carry audio TO the TV. Is there an unmentioned HDMI cable in here somewhere? I see no other audio outputs on the HTZ.
Are you running the HT-Z310 through an Onkyo receiver to somewhere (?) else?

The fewer hops and inteconnects a given signal experiences between its source and your senses, the better. I always run the BEST video from any source to the TV first; the best Audio to the BEST audio electronics. If that helps.
