I have 2 JBL tower speakers and a Pioneer VSX-305 receiver and I am not getting sound anymore. I hook my iPhone up to receiver or my playstation and I get no sound unless I turn the volume all the way up on my receiver, but I have to put my ear up to the speaker to hear any sound

You have a tape monitor button switched on. Release it, but turn the volume to zero first! For more information, or should you have any further questions, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. Thank you.

SOURCE: Philips HTS3455/98 System "NO SOUND" PlZ Help!!

There are two capacitors on the power board that are 470uf/35v. go to Radioshack and buy two catalog #272-1030 470uf/35v radial lead capacitors. if you have soldering wick and a soldering iron, then this will cost you under $3.00. when you remove them, the capacitors have a white strip with a negative sign on it. match this up with the shaded area on the board. put it back together, and it will work, and last a long time. I have this same system, and it wouldn't play any sound. so, I replaced the capacitors. Hope this helps!0ccab8c.jpg

SOURCE: hooking up a sony playstation 3 with digital optical cable

Here's one solution, if you have an audio output from your tv, you can go from the audio output on your tv to the audio input on your receiver that way anything that is playing on your tv for example, playstation 3, dvd player etc. Anything playing on your tv will have audio on your onkyo home theater system. The other thing I would try if you want to hook ps3 directly to receiver is go to your connection settings on your ps3 menu and change your connection method to digital optical cable.

I have a Pioneer VSX 823 - K, and when I hook up my Klipsch HG-12 300 watt subwoofer to it, the receiver is prone to overheating or just shutting off with too much bass. Is there a fix to this?

This is receiver thermal going in protect issue and has no bearing to your sub, The sub has its own power amp and not supplied by the receiver. Thermal module may be bad. See a tech.

It is likely failing due to age.Cold solders fail, corrosion can cut a connection, a capacitor can harden and fail... a myriad of things can happen in time. Repairing it will cost more than an inexpensive replacement. The same receiver can be had on ebay from $60 up (with shipping). It is a cost benefit issue at this point.

I have never seen RCA to digital conversion, and if it did exist you would have to convert from digital to analog in order for this to work, the sound quality would be degraded and unreliable, plus sound level would drop.

My pioneer receiver has distorted sound or grounder audio output

Sounds like you may have smoked your output stage in the amplifier...this can be caused by using defective speakers, hooking it up while it is on, or too much volume..Can also be caused by power surges...You will probably need to have a service man check it out to make sure this is the problem.

Partial sound from my JBL E60 Towers

Are there 4 inputs on the back of the speakers? If so, you either need to hook up all four, or connect the upper and lower inputs to each other. The speakers come with gold plates that connect the upper and lower inputs, but you can just use speaker wire to connect them. At least that is what I did on the used set of speakers I bought when one plate was missing.
