I have a Lincoln Ranger 250 gas welder it runs but it won't strike a arc where should I start looking for the problem?

If your Lincoln Ranger 250 gas welder is running but not striking an arc, there could be a few potential issues causing this problem. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Check the welding leads and connections: Ensure that the welding leads are securely connected to both the welder and the workpiece. Make sure the connections are tight and free from corrosion or damage.
2. Check the electrode/ground clamp connections: Inspect the electrode holder and ground clamp connections for any loose or damaged parts. Ensure that the electrode holder is securely gripping the welding electrode.
3. Check the welding electrode: Examine the welding electrode for any signs of damage or wear. Replace the electrode if it appears worn out, as it may not strike an arc effectively.
4. Check the power source: Verify that the power source to the welder is adequate. Ensure that the welder is receiving the correct voltage and that the power source is providing sufficient power.
5. Check the welding settings: Review the welding settings on the welder to ensure they are appropriate for the type and thickness of the metal you are working on. Adjust the settings if necessary.
6. Check the welding environment: Make sure you are operating in a clean and well-ventilated area. Remove any contaminants or debris from the workpiece and ensure good contact between the workpiece and the ground clamp.
7. Check the welder's internal components: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it may be necessary to inspect the internal components of the welder. This requires expertise and should be performed by a qualified technician. Contact a professional repair service or the manufacturer for assistance.
Remember, safety is crucial when working with welding equipment. Always follow proper safety precautions and wear appropriate protective gear, such as welding gloves and a welding helmet, to protect yourself from potential hazards.

I have a miller bobcat 225 is lower power while welding, any idea?

First off, check all of your welding cables to make sure they're in good shape, then check for tight cable connections. Is your machine staying at low idle speed while trying to weld? If so, Switch the idle select into the 'weld' position and make sure the high RPM's initiate. Try welding again. Better? Could be a number of things, if not.

My miller matic 35 welds and stops after about 2 inches let cool for about 30 to 40 sec and it welds again. fan runs

these need a good power supply , i looked and did not see the duty cycle on this welder if you are doing heavy welding 100% power it will need 30- 40 minutes to cool of to weld again. it all depends on the units duty cycle, stated on the welder spec plate ..can you bypass the auto feed speed mode ? this might be the issue.. good luck ..use all the protection you can when welding these are like the sun and can and will burn exposed skin and eyes .. if'n i was any help throw me a bone and vote thanks jay

Gas won't shut off until power is shut off

With a tig welder it is designed to do this. The gas is used to shield your weld of all airborne contaminates. Your welder should have a flow on start of weld and what they call a post flow. This post flow protects your finished weld from contamination. You can preset it from 0 to 30 seconds on a majority of welders. I would recommend you set a postflow for at least 10 seconds and hold the torch above your finished weld until gas shuts off. It is doing this for a reason! Too Protect your weld from oxidation and other contaminates while the molten weld pool sets up! Hope this helps out!

I have a older mmodel 318 riding mower with an onan motor. wruns very well but when it is hot outside it will shut down withinabout a minute the power will reinitiate and the tractor can be restarted ....

possibly a carb or coil problem. does it have point type ignition? if so try replacing the condensor.if nothing else changes try replacing the fuel filter. then nothing,a float sticking in the carb or a bad coil.

Millermatic 200 won't weld

first check on the plate that tells imfo of unit ,there is what is called duty cycle. If the duty cycle says per say 30%,that means you can weld full power for 3 minuets before unit will shut down to cool.if it says 100% duty cycle there is no limit on weld time.this is the first thing to understand,if that is not the case check the main contactor where the power imput wires go,pull the gun trigger see if the contactor is pulling in , it should if not no welding amperage.
