Remote will not change the volume

Remove power for half an hour to reset the TV Screen and fix the problem

Hi,
Are you using a remote control or the switches on the TV?

If using a remote;
First turn the TV off at the power point then wait for 10 seconds.
Then turn the TV back on
Then attempt top adjust the volume using the manual settings on the side or bottom of your TV, if that works then you may have a remote that either needs new batteries or does not work.?
Can you turn the TV on and Off with the remote control?
Can you change channels with the remote control?
If you can do both the above it would appear that the remote is working OK.

If you can control the TV by using its front panel controls, and only remote control is not working, the fault may be either to its remote control handset or to the remote sensor inside. The remote sensor is a small component, having only three solder terminals and will look like this.
This is the component inside the TV which senses the infrared rays emitted by the remote control, and convert it to digital signals, and send to the microcomputer section circuit to process. This component can be located just behind the infrared remote window at the front panel of the TV. You have to open the TV to access it, and to replace it. Just check your remote for its infrared emission, before going further. Just get more details about how to check a remote control from this site named 'Electro-help'. Pull up older posts there. Do you have fresh batteries in the remote? You did not provide your TV brand so I can't provide you the codes for your specific TV. Below I have provided instructions on how to perform a power scan. If this doesn't work, you may need a new remote.

• Remote: Basic Remote (Television Only)
  1. Turn the Television On.
  2. Press and hold the clear TV button for three seconds until the LED flashes.
  3. Press and release the redTV Power button.
  4. Press and release the Up or Down Arrow on the remote until the television turns off.
  5. After the television turns off, press and release the # button.
  6. Test functionality with the TV.
  7. Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to turn the TV On/Off, change the volume and mute the television.

Turned power saving feature on the TV to low and moved the receiver about four feet away from the TV and the remotes work fine now.

Press tv on the Sky remote

press and hold select and red until the led blinks twice
type in 0 0 6 0
press the power button, if the tv turns off then the press select and the remote should work all the tv functions.

If the tv does not turn off then press tv then the power button and keep doing this until the tv turns off, once it turns off press select and it should work.

If the tv turns off press select and hey presto you're done, if the tv doesn't turn off, press tv then press the power button and keep doing this until the tv turns off. When the tv turns off press select.
