On one or both? Take a flash light and look close at the screen while playing something. If you can see the picture on the screens then it is a back light problem. They are not easy to repair.

Sounds like it may be a bad linking cable or connection. Make sure you have cables inserted firmly and correctly. If possible, hook main unit to TV to be sure you are getting proper Video/Audio output.
First, If you have a video IN/OUT switch make sure you have video OUT selected. If you have a blank but lite screen, then your display screen is bad. If you have a dark screen, you should be able to look closely and you might see an image, if so then your backlite might be out. Also make sure not to try to power dual screens with a battery.
