Canon Rebel XT / EOS 350D Digital Camera Logo
Posted on Apr 13, 2009

My Canon Rebel has stopped importing pix properly, despite being quite new. It displays pictures ok, we get to Windows explorer to view them as thumbnails as normal(with 0 kb size!), which Windows cannot open or view, or drag or copy over. On the camera side I can zoom into the image on the LCD display. 2 memory cards and the same thing...

Try going to the Canon website for your country. It may be a driver problem in that the driver to download your photos is either out of date or incorrect for your camera. I had a very similar problem with my EOS 350D in that it would not import pictures from the camera to windows.
Occasionally my camera would take a photo of 0kbs but since my updated driver 6 months ago it has not done it once. Failing that get a 40D, the difference is amazing!!
Hope this helps.

My canon powershot sx110 is is only taking black pictures. any suggestions on how to fix this?

Have you downloaded pictures to your computer to see if the pictures are ok, and it's just the display? If not, worth testing. If pix are ok, then it's just the display that's bad. If the pix are bad, get new camera.

I can help you fix the BUSY Error or Error 99 of your Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D.

Installation of this Canon EOS Rebel XS / Canon EOS 1000D firmware version 1.06 update will solve these problems:
  1. Some cameras may exhibit a phenomenon in which the LCD monitor does not display, the shutter does not release, and the BUSY indication remains lit in the viewfinder.
  2. The message, "Err 99 Shooting is not possible. Turn the power switch to<OFF> and <ON> again or re-install the battery", appears on the camera's LCD monitor, and after the above operation is carried out,the LCD monitor displays in a language that is different from the actual language setting.
See the firmware instructions and download the firmware upgrade by following these Fixya Tips :

New EOS XSi LCD don't work

You have to set the camera to "Live View" mode. Check your manual for settings.
BTW, it's usually a bad idea to use Live View mode unless the camera is on a tripod. With Live View you have to hold the camera out in front of you and it's much less steady.

My XT will not connect to Vista.

Well, that worked perfectly. Turn on your Rebel XT camera and under Menu then Tools go to Communication and set it to Print/PTP. Thank you to all you very smart people!
