Hi there

regarding that issue that you are having with the external monitor is not working with your sony vaio here are some steps that might help to have it working

connection between the monitor and laptop
- VGA ( blue adapter ) or DVI ( white adapter )
- check if the connected properly
- try to use a different VGA cable
- check if the monitor is detected by the computer
***please also do a monitor selftest on the external monitor***

- HDMI
- check if the tv is detected by the computer
- check the settings of the TV for the HDMI

hope this helps

Hi,after 1 year of normal usage my screen turns white-grey when switched on my pc.cant get into the main menu coz nothing comes up on the screen.what should i do?

Hi Friend, In this case I would recommend you to please try and connect any external monitor to the system to check if you have the same issue on the external as well
If you got the same display then it means that the graphic card of the system has some issues
If External works fine, it means that the LCD of the laptop has some problem.

He,Hi This is Abhishek from India.I wanna 2 attach an external RAM of 512MB.Will it support or not?

Hi Abhishek, not sure what you mean by "external" RAM? If you have Vista then you can use a USB drive as extra RAM using "ReadyBoost" - see link (it is Wikipedia so info could be wrong):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Readyboost

If you are looking to add additional RAM to your motherboard then the Aspire 3000 will take up to 2GB of DDR333 (2x1GB modules). See link to manual here:

Acer aspire one will not work.

Hi,

If you get a post screen with Acer written on it at startup, and the screen turns off when loading the system (Windows or Linux), then you need to reinstall the system using an external USB cd unit and the recovery disk that was provided with your Acer.

If instead the display has no screen at all , try connecting an external monitor to test the laptop.

If you get picture on external monitor, then the Aspire One has a faulty LCD ribbon cable or a faulty LCD display or inverter.

If you get no picture on external screen , then you have a faulty motherboard, possibly faulty video chipset on motherboard.

In any case check your Acer One warranty, all the faults listed are covered by Acer warranty for one year.
Contact Acer at the number listed on documentation to have the computer repaired.

Messenger

hello hope this helps, you need to update it and you cant download msn because "Aspire One" models arn't windows vista or any other version of windows.
You need to keep pressing live update on your download on the settings found in the bottom right hand corner.
it will eather come up with a box saying nothing has been found, if so just press retry.
or on the other hand a box will come up stating ALL of the updates you can have. these are called "patches"
just press accept and it will take about 5-10 minutes to download.
then the messenger that is built in will work so no need for windows live.
hope this was good help to get your "aspire one" working
yours sincerly
