Vaillant boiler - heating OK, but no hot water.

Hi, I have a Vaillant TURBOmax VUW 242/1E combi boiler. Recently the instant hot water has stopped working. Central heating is fine, but when I run the hot tap (upstairs and down) the boiler just doesn't react. It doesn't try and ignite or anything. Any clues??

Hi there.. Any luck on the problem? I have the same problem now.. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the advice!! I actually had a mate of mine come around and have a look - he diagnosed it as a the flow switch not making a connection.

To remedy this he packed the underside of the flow switch with a small piece of card - thus raising the contact of the switch slightly - and this worked a treat!! So i now have hot water again and spent absolutely no money at all.

    Hope you find this helpful!!!

Most likey problem is the diverter valve, not energising fully. This in turn will not move the little plastic lever arm that actuates the microswitch on the side, sending the signal to ignite.

You can buy a diaghram kit from most local plumb centres, you need to replace the diaghram and seals, don't forget the silicon grease to ensure the plunger doesnt stick. Kits less than a tenner.

You should have noticed before it stopped working completely the water had reduced in temperature before the weeks it failed.

To make sure it is a diverter valve fault, depress the microswitch if you can, when the hot water is flowing and hey presto the demand for hot water light should shine.

Sunbeam instruction manuals

Hi! If your cleaner is not steaming it could be that the steamer pump is not on, or there is no water or not enough water in the tank. I have included a link to the instruction manual. If it is still not steaming please contact customer support at 1-800-321-1134. Thanks! http://dirtdevil.com/file/235/

Bleeding the radiator

take the top off the header tank ( part you fill the water in) top to the top run engine until it boils or fan kicks in to cool down the engine. while it is heating up squeeze the pipes around the engine to help release the air better DONT put your hands near any moving parts. keep the water full to the top while doing this. when at temp turn off engine and leave to cool down dont add any water or do anything till it has cooled down. when cooled down top up to the mark and should be good then if not then the thermostat may be faulty. or you have a blockage some were in the system that is causing the over boiling problem also check that the fan is working and the temp switch for the fan is working all these can make the engine over heat, also when bleeding the system have the heater on number one and heat on full.

ON LOW GEAR MOTOR IS WEAK ,ON HIGH GEAR RUNS OK

Hi, Sounds like not enough fuel, in low gear motor turns over a lot faster, using more fuel, high gear it chugs on a trickle of gas. When i used to work in a garage, the final test was a long steep hill that would show flaws in the fuel delivery system, and everything else to, well worth the extra few minutes time. Also, if the big fuel tanker is at your favorite gas station, you might better keep driving bye, or else you can pay 4 bucks a gallon for mud, rust, and water. There is a sock screen on the pick-up tube in your gas tank, the screen is so fine and dense, that gas will flow easily thru it, but water has to be sucked thru. Suppose there is 4 gallons of water in the bottom of your tank, car sitten still the water is half-way covering the pick-up sock, car is running good. Junior stomps on the gas, then hits the brakes for the stop sign down the street. The water sloshes in the tank, covering the pick-up sock several brief moments, forcing the fuel pump to suck water thru the dense screen, causing all kinds of problems. Up here I have a big ice slab in the bottom of my tank that grows each time i get gas until april. Now I hear that ethenol in the fuel is supposed to cure all that. When I was young all the cars had drain cocks on the bottom of the fuel tank to let the water out. Best Wishes

We have model 11502 air purifier. Recently turned it on and it ran for a few minutes and then stopped. Motor sounded fine- no squealing, didn't slow down before it went off- just stopped like it was...

Yes there is a thermal cutoff that will shut the motor off for a period of time to protect it from getting to hot. If this is what happened after 20-30 mins. the motor should come back on and run again. If it does I would try to clean motor as best I could using a soft brush, vacumn, and blow out with air if possible. Clean fan of f as best you can to help motor run cooler.Hope this helps.Thank you

F300E powers up in purge mode, but shuts off when heating

In the heat mode your furnace fan operates in a lower speed. when your zone panel purges it powers the G terminal in your furnace, which is high speed. You may have an airflow problem if your EAC is powered directly to an outlet, you may have a bad air pressure switch, or if the eac is wired to the furnace control board, it is mis-wired..more info needed.

I have a fresh air by Ecoquest the motor stops

I recently fixed one with the same problem. Remove the rear cover where the switch is mounted. (Take off the filter first) The wires have enough length that it is not necessary to remove them. Use a blow dryer and blow into the opening to remove dust and moisture from the circuit boards. Either one will make it start and stop. Make sure not to get it too hot or too close. Good Luck. I can't help you with the dealer question as I'm in NC.

Kenmore AC2044-1 question ASAP!

If it says "Clean Cell Now" and it is a new machine, it is broken. I have six, yes six, of this model. They are all new and you shouldn't have to clean the filter/cells for a few months.

The way to clean is:

  1. Unplug
  2. remove the white cover
  3. remove the prefilter. Good time to clean the prefilter by removing the 2 retention clips and gently swing the prefilter outward. Clean or groom it with a vacuum. Use the upholstery brush. wash the prefilter in warm, soapy water. No Chlorine! Rinse clean with regular water. Wipe with a paper towel and let dry completely. It is okay to gently use a hair blower to speed up the drying process.
  4. Onto the Cell.
  5. The cell can be washed one of two ways. Either in a hot tub of water or in a dishwasher.
  6. Wear gloves to protect your hands. Never touch the fins or wires. It will ruin them and cut you up. Use the two handles.
  7. Use hot water and dish detergent.
  8. No chlorine and no abrasives.
  9. Soak for 10 minutes, then dip a couple of times to remove stuck dust/dirt/schmutz.
  10. Rinse with clean water.
  11. Allow to dry
  12. Allow to dry
  13. Allow to dry
  14. Okay to use a hair dryer to speed up process.
  15. Reinstall
  16. Power up
  17. Press and hold CHECK button for 3 secs to reset.

Thanks.
