Nikon D60 + Metz 45CL-1

To use Metz 45CL-1 with Nikon D5100, you need use in apperture priority mode (A), adjust same ISO and apperture in Flash and Camera (Ex: ISO400 and F: 5.6) . The flash adjust light intensity to mantain correct exposition. You need use an adapter to conect Sync cable in your camera.

yes of course, there are a lot of brands that compatible with Nikon D-60 e.g Nikon itself, Metz, Vivitar, Nissin, Yong Nuo, etc.

The flash with iTTL support would be an advantage

iTTL is the feature Nikon has to measure the perfect light produced from the flash from the condition of the object

If the shoe of the flash is compatible with the hot shoe of the camera then yes go for it. Should the flash shoe be different then the flash will still work but with a shoe adapter. Both are TTL so I see no reasons why they won't work. I do know of a friend who uses the Nikon with the same flash but it has the battery pack fitting and uses an adapter on the camera's hot shoe. He does weddings galore and never had a problem even though he carries a spare he has never used it.

Are you sure that you have a 45CL-5? It's a model which I've never seen nor heard of before, but it's possible that it is a non-standard custom model number for a specific supplier or territory.

The answer to your question is "possibly": but you asked if it can be used safely so the answer must be a firm "no".

Various sources (e.g. here) quote the trigger voltage on the (presumably closely related 45CL-4) to be a little higher or even vastly higher than Canon's 6v limit. Metz themselves are unclear on the issue and it doesn't help that they do not list the CL-5 on their support page nor on their main corporate page, but they do list a 45CL-4 and a 45CL-4 Digital. The differences between the two models may just be to add additional capabilities which suit digital SLR's but perhaps it also brings the trigger voltage below Canon's 6v limit.

As there is so little published information about the 45CL-5 then I strongly suggest that you do not risk your camera until you have a definitive answer from Metz themselves: you can contact their support service by clicking here. The link is for the UK, if you're elsewhere (Australia?) then you may need to make your own search.

Metz in Germany advises Models CT45-1 with Serial No's 53400 or less have High Voltage triggers and must not be used on NIKON Digital Cameras Models D70 ,D80, D90 etc.and will damage Flash and even Cameras. according to a email received today. 21/09/2009 Models CT45-4 and 45CL -4 ore ok.

The trigger voltage of the 45CL-1 is about 12V, so it should be safe to connect directly to the hot shoe with an adaptor, or to the pc soclet, if the D90 has one. If the D90 is anything like my Canon 40D, which can stand about 30V on the hot shoe, then all the 45CL series will be ok, as they have trigger voltages between 9V and 12V. The 45CT-5 has a trigger voltage of 15V and works well on the 40D. I use 3 different Metz 45 models with my 40D and all work well on automatic, where the flash sensor itself controls the light output.

Originally the 45CT1 had high trigger voltage. In the production period Metz improved it to a much lower voltage release circuit. Metz homepage (metz.de) holds the information, from which serial number on have 45-CT1s low trigger voltage. However, even the high trigger voltage was lower than 200 volts, thus safe for your Fuji.

I found th answer in the manuel. You can not use flash when pluged into charger.
