Don't let the deadline scare you away. I sent my Dimage in for repair in late April 2008 and Sony fixed it good as new.
Here's the link to go directly to Sony to have your camera repaired for free (with free shipping too). You need to do this before March 31, 2008 so get going!:

Dimage 7HI, 7I, A1, Xi, F300, XT, X20, S414.
I got the same problem back in December of 2006 (9 months ago). Since then, the camara has been on the shelf inside its case. Of course, I've been thinking about when to send it for repair or just buy a new camera. Just today, I got in the mail a letter from Monolta informing me of a class action lawsuit involving the DiMage A1 cameras. The problem is related to faulty CCD sensor creating the problem of a distorted image on the LCD and viewfinder. They will repair it or reimburse any repairs you may have already done or a reimbursement if you bought a new camara as a replacement. Replacements have a limit of up to $206. Go to http://ca.konicaminolta.com/ccdsettlemen... for more info on the lawsuit. There is also a link to a site to start the repair part. There is a deadline to apply for the repair which is three years from the time of purchase or March 31, 2008. RicoE

Have been told there are no parts available. has Sony stopped manufacturing the replacement CCD's?
my A1 (USA) has been in a good case not being used for about 4 plus years. I've checked it a couple of times during that time, band it was fine, but I never relaly used it. A couple of days ago, I took it out to use in a class and I was having this problem. I tried the sony test referred to somewhere in this blog (help I can't find it again!) and noted that the date, at least for Sony cameras, has been extended to March 2009. But when I did the test and followed the instructins it would not recognize my model number and when However the sony repair page does say that for a flat rate of 211.00 I can send it to them for repair . Is there a way to get the free reprir for my A!?
